  MRS. SCHARER'S DEATH We have this week to chronicle the very sudden death of Mrs. Xavier Scharer, which occurred on Sunday afternoon. On Saturday, about 11 a.m. her grandson Mr. A. Scharer, called at the house and left her seemingly as well as usual. Shortly afterwards her husband entering the house found her lying on the floor unconscious. A doctor was at once called but nothing could be done for her, and she never regained consciousness. Deceased was born in Woolwich township in 1842 and was married to her now bereaved husband about 47 years ago. They lived on a farm in Pool[?] township for about 25 years, and for the last Eight[sic] they have lived in Elmira. Their marriage was blessed with nine children, of whom the following eight survive: - Martin, in Elmira; Theresa (Mrs. McQuarry), Duntroon, Ont.; Mary (Mrs. Everist) Toronto; John, Egremont township; Annie (Mrs. Reuben Cauman), Corbetton, Ont.; George, Eramosa, Maggie (Mrs. Borge)[?], Garafraxa township; Caroline, late of Preston, now at home. Three sisters and a brother also survive the deceased namely: Mrs. Koerber and Mrs. M. Ludwig, Elmira; Mrs. Nicholas Gies, Berlin; John Eisenbach, Kossuth. The funeral will be held this (Wednesday) forenoon at 9 a.m. to the Catholic church for service and thence to the R.C. Cemetery for burial.
