    • Well-Known Elmira Woman Dead

      It was a surprise to many people in Elmira to hear on Tuesday morning that Mrs. Henry Sieling had passed away during the night, they not having known of her serious illness.

      The deceased, whose maiden name was Philippena Steffler, was born in the old Steffler homestead on the town line between Woolwich and Wellesley on the 12th of May 1856. She was married to Henry Sieling on the 1st of February 1880 and they lived for some years on a small farm near the three bridges, but for about 17 years past they have lived in Elmira. Her death is mourned by her sorrowing husband, six sisters and 5 brothers, her death being the first break in the circle of a dozen grown-up children. There remain: Mary (Mrs. Jacob O. Stroh), St. Jacobs; Jacob, Elmira; Elizabeth (Mrs. Geo. Allemang), Elmira; George, Elmira; Magdalena (Mrs. Eckert Sieling, St. Jacobs; Sophia (Mrs. Wm. Haas), Breslau; Melinda (Mrs. Louis Oswald), Preston; David, Daniel and William in the West; Caroline (Mrs. Dan Fries), Berlin.

      Mrs. Sieling was of a genial, pleasant disposition, and made many friends who will regret her departure. The funeral is being held this afternoon and is being attended by friends from far and near.
