- Elmira Mourns Untimely Death of Mrs. L. Ratz
Daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. Winger Passes at Early Hour this Morning
Was an Artist of Merit
Talent Asserted Itself in Childhood; funeral to be Held on Saturday
A death which particularly touched the people of Elmira occurred in the early hours of Thursday morning when Mrs. Lorne Ratz, (E. Adell Winger), beloved wife of L. Lorne Ratz, and daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. Winger, passed away following a lingering illness.
The late Mrs. Ratz was born in Elmira on December 8, 1894. She attended school here and later spent a year at Branksome Hall, Toronto. On June 1922, she was married to L. Lorne Ratz, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Simon Ratz, of Elmira. They lived for four years in Oshawa, Mrs. Ratz returning to Elmira about a year ago, when her health began to fail.
The late Mrs. Ratz had a bright and genial disposition which won for her many friends. She possessed a genuine talent for painting, and when but a little girl won the prize offered by the publisher of the Girls' Annual for the best copy of a tulip made by a public school pupil in the Province of Ontario.
She is survived by her husband and small son, Jack, as well as by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. Winger, all of whom have the deepest sympathy of the community.
The funeral will be held on Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the home of Mr. and Mrs. A. Winger, Centre Street. Following this, a service will be held in St. Paul's Lutheran Church of which the late Mrs. Ratz was a member.
