  Elmira lost a respected lady when Mrs. Adam Weichel passed away on Saturday afternoon, after an illness of two weeks. Mrs. Weichel's maiden name was Ann Hughes. She was born May 6 1848 near Salem, Ont. She and Mr. Weichel were married on Feb 27 1871 and had lived nearly the whole of their married lives in Elmira. Mrs. Weichel whose age was 74 years, one month and four days, had not until the illness which ended her life ever been confined to her bed by sickness. She was a kind, friendly natured and an active member of the Methodist Church and the oldest member of its Ladies Aid Society. She was beloved by a wide circle of friends. There are left to mourn her death, her husband and eight children. The children's names are Annie (Mrs. W. Brechbill) of Kitchener; Margaret (Mrs. Aug. Rathman) of Kitchener: Catherine (Mrs. Emerson Matthews) of Peel Township: Ella (Mrs. Russel Smith) of Pittsburg, Pa: Laura (Mrs. Wm. Ludwig) of Elmira.John of Kitchener, Clark of Elmira: and Robert who has been away 12 years and is thought to be in New Mexico. Her funeral was held on Monday afternoon and was conducted by Rev. Mr. Jewitt. Services were held at the family residence on Church St. At these the Ladies Aid Society sang a hymn in honor of its oldest member. There were many floral tokens sent by sorrowing friends. The pallbearers were Messers. Simon Moyer, M. T. Bechtel, W. W. Martinson, Ed. Tyack and Herbert Stickney. The condolences of the community are extended to the bereaved husband and children.
