- BELOVED RESIDENT CALLED BY DEATH
Sudden Passing Of Mrs. William Roos Ends Career Of Active Welldoing For Church And Community
Mrs. Elizabeth Roos, widow of the late William Room, passed away very suddenly this morning about seven o'clock at her home "Bon-Accord", 116 North Queen street, in her 79th year. The late Mrs. Roos altho not appearing well last evening stated she intended getting up this mornins. She also seemed to be well this morning about five o'clock but had passed away when her nurse saw her again. Medical aid was immediately summoned but life was found to have been extinct for some time.
The late Mrs. Roos was one of the city's most prominent and beloved residents. She was the daughter of the late George Davidson, first Sheriff of Waterloo County. Thru the years which she had lived to the betterment of the community, she had established a reputation for kindness and hospitality which she continued to enjoy until her death.
Among her outstanding qualities were her friendly disposition to everyone and her active Interest in the general welfare of the community. She was a valued and probably the oldest member of St. Andrew's Presbyterian church and several affiliated societies of the church. In this sphere she will be missed for help in every undertaking and the generous support she accorded church work in general.
The late Mr. Roos was born in New Aberdeen In 1849 and as Elizabeth Davidson she came to this city while quite young. She and the late William Room were married in this city and made home here for the remainder of their lives with the exception of few years spent in Waterloo.
She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. H. J. Sims of this city, Mrs. T. MacKay of Sarnia and Mrs. R. G. Baird of Winnipeg, and one son. Irvine of Waterloo. One brother, William Davidson K.C. of Toronto, also survives. Her husband, member of firm of Randall Roos predeceased her nearly six years ago.
The funeral takes place on Thursday afternoon at three o'clock to Mt. Hope cemetery.
