  DIED AT BRANCHTON Mr. John Soutar the well known G. T. R. Section foreman for the past 30 years, at Branchton, was seized with inflammation of the bowels, on Saturday last and after enduring much suffering, died on Monday morning. Deceased was a valued employee of the company and was respected by all who knew him. He leaves a family consisting of his widow, three sons and four daughters. One son is baggage-master at the C. P. R. station, Galt, another a section foreman, for the same company and the third is employed at Cowan & Co's Foundry. Two of his daughters, also reside in Galt and the others at Branchton. Deceased was a lifelong Liberal of the staunchest stripe and was a member of the old St. Andrew's church, on the hill. He was 61 years old. The Dumfries Reformer 26 Nov 1891 pg 1
