    • BLAIN, Stanley Gordon Messenger - Passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, at St. Luke's Place, Hespeler, Ontario. Born July 27, 1916 in Galt, Ontario. Predeceased by parents, George and Lillian Blain. Beloved husband of the late Clara (nee Rud) Harder of Provost, Alberta. Cherished step-father to Linda (nee Harder) Heggie (Douglas) of Milton, Ont. and Gerald Harder (Mary Hawey) of Surrey, B.C. Predeceased by Dennis Harder and his wife (Phylis McRoberts). Loving grandfather to Jeffrey (Deanne Corradetti); Christine (Mike Ranger), Randal and Duncan Heggie and Linda, Frances and Michael Harder, and Bryan, Gregory and Jack Harder. Great-grandfather to Keltie, Caitlyn, Shannon, Matthew Heggie; Carli, Marilyn and Natalie Heggie; Adam Hollingsworth. Keegan, Annabelle and Helina Harder. Victoria and Alessandra Nimchuk. Kalyna Antoniuk, and Desiree Harder. Great-great-grandfather to Emma Hollingsworth. Stan will be remembered for his great love for his wife, Clara, his quick wit and sure memory, his interest in his grandchildren's lives, his enjoyment of a good meal, his automobiles, his love of sports biographies, his pleasure in gardening, his affection for his cat Cactus, and Randy's dog Denver, his volunteer work with Galt Minor Ball and Hockey. Stan was active in Galt Minor Hockey and Softball, and was inducted into the Cambridge Sports Hall of Fame in 1997. He also volunteered for the Red Cross, Meals on Wheels and the Pater Program, and his life long involvement in Trinity Anglican Church, Galt. Stan attended Dickson Public School and the Galt Collegiate Institute. Stan was a Corporal in the Royal Canadian Air Force and served overseas from July 1943 and was Honourably released and transferred to the General Section of the Reserve Class "E" on April 10, 1946. He received the 1939/45 Star, France and Germany Star, C.V.S.M. and Clasp. Stan delivered milk for Cedar Hill Dairy, and was employed by Canada Post for 28 years. Stan will be sadly missed by his family and friends. Friends will be received at Coutts Funeral Home , 96 St. Andrews St, Cambridge, on Wednesday, April 22, 2009, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 23rd from Trinity Anglican Church, 12 Blair Rd., Cambridge at 3 p.m. Cremation has taken place according to Stan's wishes.
