- Mrs. Wm. Vogt Dead Many Years Resident
Sustained Paralytic Stroke, Followed By Pneumonia. Leaves Husband And One Daughter.
The death took place at 3.35 on Tuesday afternoon, of Caroline Hambrecht, beloved wife of Mr. William R. Vogt, at the family residence, 120 Wellington street. She sustained an attack of paralysis of the right side, about six weeks ago, which rendered her almost completely helpless. On Monday pneumonia set in, the attack proving fatal, in about 24 hours. The funeral will be held on Friday at 2 p. m., at the family residence, then to St. Matthew's Luth. Church and Mount Hope Cemetery.
In the demise of Mrs. Vogt whe was 58 years, one month and five days of age, Berlin loses one of its eldest in native daughters. She was born in Berlin, daughter of the late Chr. Hambrecht, and was early in life adopted by Mr. and Mrs. Henry Schween as one of their family. She was married in 1880 to Mr. Vogt, and the marriage union was blessed with two sons, both of whom have gone before, and one daughter, Annie, at home. There are two brothers surviving, Henry Hambrecht. Wellington St., and Fred Hambrecht. Her mother died two years ago and a sister, Mrs. Charles Gerster, of Waterloo, died a year ago.
She was for many years a consistent member of St. Peter's Luth. Church and later of St. Matthews, discharging her duties with cheerfulness and faithfulness. Her departure leaves a gap a wide circle of friends, who will sympathize with the bereaved husband and daughter in their heavy affliction.
