      Mrs. Josiah S. Shantz, 79, nee Sophianna Rudy, died yesterday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. David Bearinger, Parkway, following a brief illness. Born in Waterloo Township on Feb. 8, 1862, she was a daughter of the late Abram Rudy and Mary Snyder Rudy. The late Mrs. Shantz was a member of Weber Mennonite Church, Strasburg. Her husband, Josiah S. Shantz died Jan 5, 1940 Surviving are one son, Alvin, of Waterloo, and a daughter, Mrs. Bearinger of Parkway. Six grandchildren also survive. Private funeral service will be held from the home of her daughter on Friday at 2: 30 p.m., thence to First Mennonite Church, Kitchener, for public service at 3 p.m. Rev. Simon Martin will be in charge. Remains will be at the Ratz-Bechtel Funeral Home until Thursday noon.
