- Mr. Edward M. Arnold, 77, of 22 Centre St., Elmira, died in St. Mary's Hospital, April 30 after a short illness.
Mr. Arnold, well-known in Elmira and in the furniture business, lived most of his life in Elmira.
He was born in Baden, Ont., April 5, 1889, the son of the late Henry Arnold and Catherine Hartleib. He was president of the Wunder Furniture Co. Ltd., Kitchener, until his retirement July 1, 1964.
He was a member of St. Theresa's R.C. Church, the Holy Name Society and a member of the Knights of Columbus.
Surviving are his wife, the former Florence O'Neill whom he married June 17, 1916; two sons, William of St. Thomas and John of Sarnia; five daughters, Catherine of Toronto, Mrs. J.S. (Peggy) Black of Kitchener, Mrs. M.P. (Mary) Greenhill of Galt, Mrs. J.P. (Eleanor) Ferguson of Sarnia, Mrs. D.O. (Florence) Manners of London; one brother, Edwin of Kitchener; one sister, Olive of Toronto; and 22 grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted at St. Theresa's R.C. Church, Father A.J. Haes was the celebrant of the Solemn Mass, assisted by Father E. Hartleib as Deacon, and Rt. Rev. V. Priester as Subdeacon. Burial took place in St. Theresa's Cemetery.
