  Jacob T. Knechtel - Jacob T. Knechtel, 83, of RR 2, Kitchener, died today at K-W Hospital following a brief illness. Born in Mannheim Oct. 6, 1879, he resided in the Twin City area for his entire life. He was a blacksmith and operated a shop in Mannheim for many years. A member of Latschar Mennonite Church, Mannheim, he was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Knechtel. His first wife, the former Jennette Geiger, predeceased him in 1922, and his second wife, Violet Despond, whom he married in Wilmot Township in 1924, died in 1954. He is survived by seven sons, Clarence, RR 2, Petersburg; Richard, RR 1, New Hamburg; Joseph, RR 3, Kitchener, William of Oromocto, NB; Jacob, Albert and David, all of Kitchener; seven daughters, Mrs. Eric (Esther) Burkhardt of Waterloo, Mrs. Irvin (Olivia) Cober, RR 2, Kitchener; Mrs. James (Myra) Motherall of Brantford, Mrs. William (Ruth) Glassford, Mrs. Irene Tschumi, Ella and Agnes Knechtel, all of Kitchener; 33 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a daughter Sophia and by three brothers and one sister. The body is at the Ratz-Bechtel Funeral Home until noon on Saturday when removal will be made to Latschar Mennonite Church, Mannheim, where Rev. Osiah Horst will conduct the service at 3 pm.
