Berlin [Kitchener, Ont.]: [s.n.]. _________________ GIDEON REIST Ill for weeks, Gideon Reist, 69, of I Krug street, died at K-W Hospital, early Sunday. Deceased, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Isaac Reist and was born in Kossuth on Oct. 11, 1869. He was a life-long member of the Mennonite Brethren in Christ Church. Mr. Reist's first wife predeceased him 13 years ago. He was later married to Mrs.Ella Hallman. Surviving are five sons and three step sons, Lanson and Elgin of New Dundee, Luman of Kitchener, Gilbert of Red Deer, Alta., Leonard of Preston, Frank Hallman of Sudbury, Harold and Reginald Hallman of Kitchener, one daughter, Mrs. Roy Karcher of Centreville, one brother, Theodore of Didsbury, Alta. and 14 grandchildren. One daughter, Myrtle Reim and one step daughter, Grace Hallman, predeceased him. Funeral services will be private from the home on Wednesday afternoon at 1.30 o'clock to Bethany Mennonite Brethren in Christ church at 2 pm., for public services with interment in Blenheim Cemetery. Rev. C. N. Good will officiate. Remains will be at Ratz-Bechtel Funeral Home until 4 p.m. Tuesday. Kitchener-Waterloo Record 6 Feb 1939 pg 13 _____________ Gideon Reist The death occurred at the K.-W. Hospital, early Sunday morning, of Gideon Reist, 1 Krug street, Kitchener, in his 70th year. Deceased was predeceased by his first wife, Nancy Toman, 13 years ago. Surviving are his second wife, five sons, Lanson, New Dundee, Luman, Kitchener, Elgin, New Dundee, Gilbert, Red Deer, Alta., Leonard, Preston; one daughter, Mrs. R. Karcher, Centreville, three step-sons, Frank Hallman, Sudbury, Harold and Reginald, of Kitchener; one brother, Theo. Reist, Didsbury, Alta. He was predeceased by two daughters. A private funeral service will be held at the residence on Wednesday afternoon, following by a public, service at Bethany M.B.C. Church at 2 o'clock. Interment will be made in Blenheim cemetery.
