- BOND, ELIZABETH (Nee Ricker)
Former Resident of Puslinch dies in Galt
One of Galt's grand old ladies, Mrs. John Bond, of 13 Lowrey Ave. S. in Galt, on Monday morning at 1: 15, February 17, 1936, in her 92nd year, after five weeks' illness. She had been quite active and bright until five weeks ago, when illness forced her to bed. She was a member of a pioneer Beverly Township farm, born at Sheffield, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Christopher Ricker, and lived in this district all her life. Following her marriage on June 3, 1906 to the late John Bond, who predeceased her nearly thirty years ago, she resided for many years on the Lake Road in Puslinch, on the farm now occupied by her son, C. R. Bond. She was a faithful member of the United Church in Hespeler for many years and since she moved to Galt ten years ago, she has been a member of Lincoln Avenue United Church and a staunch supporter of the Women's Missionary Society and the Ladies' Aid. Right up to the time of her illness, Mrs. Bond retained an active interest in the affairs of the day. She also went out often herself and as recently as New Year's Day, she was a guest at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Ruth Fyfe of North Water St. , Galt. Last October 31, she celebrated her 91st birthday at the home of her grand-daughter, Mrs. Herbert Eltherington in Hespeler. Survived by two sons, C. R. Bond of Puslinch; W. Irvine, in Saskatoon; five daughters, Miss Annabelle at home; Mrs. W. J. Little of Willow Grove Farm in Puslinch; Mrs. Angus Clark of Vancouver; Mrs. Ruth Fyfe of 224 North Water St. , Galt; Mrs. Rev. A. P. Lyon of Louisville, KY; one sister, Mrs. Sanford Munson of the Galt-Hamilton highway; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Funeral on Wed. , Feb. 19 at 2: 30 from the residence. Rev. C. H. Woltz, minister of Lincoln Avenue Church, officiated, assisted by Rev. Hunt of Hespeler. Arthur Eltherington of Preston sang a solo "What a Friend We Have in Jesus". Pallbearers: George Panabaker of Toronto; Herbert Eltherington of Hespeler; Earl Bond of Crieff; Orval Bond of Paris; Russell Hattrick of Sheffield; and Elmer Munson of the Galt-Hamilton highway.
