  • Notes
    • Christian Meyer,(Old Christian's name was "Myers" and not "Meyer". All old records, papers signed by him, and tombstones have "Myers") "a native of Switzerland, came to America in 1724 and settled in Strasburg Township, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. He was a Mennonite in faith and was married to Elizabeth Kauffman who was born January 15th, 1720. They had a family of eight children"

Eby, Ezra E. (1895). A biographical history of Waterloo township and other townships of the county: being a history of the early settlers and their descendants, mostly all of Pennsylvania Dutch origin: as also much other unpublished historical information chiefly of a local character. Berlin [Kitchener, Ont.]: [s.n.].

      _____________________________

(Strasburg Township was established before or about the time of the forming of the county of Lancaster. As it was established it included the township of Paradise which has since been cut off. The part that still retains the original name was settled chiefly by Swiss Mennonites who emigrated by way of Holland from 1710 to 1725. The descendants of the early settlers are still to be found in the township, such as the Herrs, Groffs, Neffs, Eshlemans, Brenemans, Kendigs, Brechbills, Brubakers, Buckwalters, Lehmans, Millers, Lantzes, Hostetlers, Meyers, Kauffmans, etc.)
