    • Conrad Bristol, the oldest citizen of Berlin, died Saturday morning in the home of his son, John Bristol on Weber St. at the age of 97 years. He was born on February 2, 1803, in Gutach, Grand Duchy of Baden, and came to America in 1850, where he settled in the northern part of the county (called "The King's Bush" at the time). He worked for three years as a day labourer for farmers. He then bought a small farm near Elmira and lived there for 22 years. Finally, he sold the land and moved to Elmira, where he resided for four years. He then moved in with his son in Berlin and lived there until his death. His wife, Anna Maria, nee Haas, whom he married in 1841 in Germany, died seven years ago at the age of 78 years. His burial took place Tuesday afternoon, with large numbers attending.
