  METZGER, Joseph H. - Peacefully, went home to be with the Lord, on Sunday, April 18, 2004, at Chateau Gardens, Elmira. Joseph H. Metzger, in his 97th year, of Elmira.Loving father of Elvina and Orton Gingrich, Lorne and Florence Metzger, all of Elmira, Tilman and Karen Metzger of St. Clements, Eileen and Phares Martin of Listowel, and Harvey Martin of Elmira, 15 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren also survive. Brother of Abram Metzger of Elmira and Lydian Kappes of St. Jacobs, brother-in-law of Angeline Martin, Salome Metzger, Magdalena Metzger and Catherine Bauman.Predeceased by his parents, John and Susannah Metzger, his first wife Katie Martin (1965), his second wife Amanda Bowman (1992), daughter Minerva Martin (1998), two daughters and one son in infancy, one grandson, one great-granddaughter and nine brothers.The family will receive friends and relatives at the Dreisinger Funeral Home, Elmira today (Tuesday) from 2-4 and 6: 30-9 p.m. At 12 noon on Wednesday transfer will be made to the Floradale Mennonite Church for funeral service at 2 p.m., with Pastor Fred Redekop officiating followed by interment in the St. Jacobs Mennonite Cemetery.In his memory, donations to the Mennonite Central Committee or Chateau Gardens Auxilary would be appreciated by the family as expressions of sympathy.
