  Levi Clemens, "was born July 15th, 1817. He was married to Sallie, daughter of Adam and Mary (Springer) Shupe. After their marriage they moved a few miles west of Berlin, on the farm now possessed by S. Y Shantz where they resided until fall, 1861, when they moved to Leighton Township, Kent County, Michigan, where he died January 27th, 1891. To them were born four sons" Eby, Ezra E. (1895). A biographical history of Waterloo township and other townships of the county: being a history of the early settlers and their descendants, mostly all of Pennsylvania Dutch origin: as also much other unpublished historical information chiefly of a local character. Berlin [Kitchener, Ont.]: [s.n.]. _______________ CLEMENS. - On the 27th of Jan., 1891, in Allegan Co., Mich., Levi Clemens, aged 64 years. Buried in the Leighton Cemetery on the 29th. Bro. Clemens had a stroke of palsy, about six years ago, by which he lost the use of the left side of his body. For the last six months he was entirely helpless. He bore the affliction with Christian patience. When asked how he was, he replied, "O, all is well, the Lord wills it thus, for He lets no evil befall His children."
