  Death Of Former Pastor's Wife A large circle of friends are sorry to learn of the death of Mrs. Caroline Maass, beloved wife of Rev. C. C. J. Maass, a former pastor of Trinity Lutheran Church here. Her death occurred at her home at 2455 Mt. Elliott Ave., Detroit, Mich., on Thursday, March 13th and interment took place to Windsor Grove Cemetery, Detroit, last Saturday, March 15th. The late Mrs. Maass came to New Hamburg in 1889, when the Rev. Mr. Maass, received a call from Trinity Lutheran Church, following the death of the late Rev. C. F. Spring. They resided here for seven years and during this time the late Mrs. Maass endeared herself to a large circle of friends. Her kind and Christian spirit and sympathetic qualities won the hearts of the members of the congregation as well as others outside of her church. Since leaving New Hamburg Rev. Mr. Maass had pastorates at Preston and Chesley, but since retiring from the ministry a few years ago, Rev. and Mrs. Maass made their home with their only daughter, (Victoria) Mrs. H. E. Schildroth, in Detroit The sympathy of their many friends in New Hamburg is extended to Rev. Mr. Maass and daughter in their sad bereavement. New Hamburg Independent, March 21, 1930
