  Rachel Shantz, "was born July 19th, 1833. On December 11th, 1853, she was married to Elias Eby. They reside near Elmira." Eby, Ezra E. (1895). A biographical history of Waterloo township and other townships of the county: being a history of the early settlers and their descendants, mostly all of Pennsylvania Dutch origin: as also much other unpublished historical information chiefly of a local character. Berlin [Kitchener, Ont.]: [s.n.]. _____________________ Last Friday the remains of the late Rachel Eby, nee Shantz, were interred in the Mennonite graveyard; the attendance was large. Deceased and her husband had lived for some years with their son Absolom in the village. She suffered much from rheumatism but bore all sufferings and trials patiently till released by death. Rev.
