  • Notes
    • In Glenmorris, on Monday the 7th instant, Mr. John Campbell, farmer, Dumfries, aged 82 years and 9 months. Mr. Campbell was an early settler in Dumfries, having taken up his abode therein 37 years ago. He was a highly intelligent man; kind-hearted, cheerful, and benevolent; and whilst strength lasted, was an example to the country of well-directed and habitual energy, which finally secured him a handsome competency. His funeral yesterday from Glenmorris to Galt was attended by a procession upwards of half a mile in length, including a great proportion of the Clergy of all denominations in the town and country.
