- KUEPFER, Jonathan
Jonathan Kuepfer died early Friday, February 2nd, at his home in Brunner, in his 69th year. He was born in Minnesota, June 20th, 1893, a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. John J. Kuepfer, and had farmed in North Easthope and near Wellesley. He moved to Brunner four years ago. Mr. Kuepfer was a member of the Conservative Mennonite Church, Millbank. He is survived by his wife, the former Leona Follas; seven sons, Aaron, R.R. 2, Wellesley; Raymond and Levi, Newton; John, R.R. 3, New Hamburg; William, Milverton; Medvin and Henry, of R.R. 1, St. Agatha; seven daughters, Mrs. Stanley (Mary) Helmuth, Baden; Mrs. Leslie (Barbara) Nau, B.C.; Martha, Baden; Sarah, Velma, Dorothy and Susanna, at home; two brothers, Rudolph and Michael, Stratford, and 28 grandchildren. He was predeceased by one son, Joseph; two brothers, Joseph and Noah, and two sisters, Mrs. Peter (Katie) Steckley and Miss Mattie Kuepfer. The body rested at the family home in Brunner until Sunday at 1:00 p.m., when removal was made to the home of his son, Levi, at Newton, where a short service was held Monday at 1:30 p.m., followed by a memorial service at the Conservative Mennonite Church, Millbank, at 2:15 p.m. Bishop Valentine Nafziger officiated and burial was in the adjoining cemetery. The pallbearers were Ralph Gerber, of Crosshill; Roy Gerber, Samuel Lichty Jr., Daniel Lichty, all of R.R. 1, Linwood; Daniel Leis, of Millbank, and Allan Gascho, of R.R. 1, Milverton. Relatives and friends, who attended the funeral, came from Hutchinson, Kansas; Bluffton and Toledo, Ohio; Baden; St. Agatha; Stratford; New Hamburg and the surrounding district.

Also surviving are 7 sons (Aaron, Wellesley; Raymond and Levi, Newton; John, New Hamburg; Melvin and Henry, St. Agatha; and William, Milverton), 7 daughters (Mary-Mrs. Stanley Helmuth, Baden; Barbara-Mrs. Leslie Nau, British Columbia; Martha, Baden; Sarah, Velma, Dorothy, and Susannah, at home), and 2 brothers (Rudolph and Michael, Stratford). He was a member of the Conservative Mennonite Church at Millbank, where funeral services were conducted Feb. 5, in charge of Valentine Nafziger and Kenneth Brenneman.
