  Dorothy Balkissoon - 1929-2007 - Balkissoon, Dorothy 'Grandma' - On November 4, 2007, grandma bid farewell to her final mission on earth in her 79th year, at the Cambridge Memorial Hospital, so we celebrate now her final journey to all eternity. She was born on October 7, 1929, in Bush Lot Village, Berbice, Guyana, South America. Dorothy Balkissoon was a devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great great grandmother and wife, whose pride was her family. She was a well-respected leader and mentor who contributed greatly to her church community. She was well known as 'grandma' and will be sadly missed by her six children; Welma, daughter in law Barb Persaud, Evelyn and Herman Sugrim, Indra and Mohan Singh, Sandra and Rene Walti, Esther and Ken Kersting and Harry and Grace Jaipersaud; 14 grandchildren, four great grandchildren and two great, great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Jaispersaud (Tawoo), and son Samedo (Rudy). The family will receive friends at Corbett Funeral Home, 95 Dundas Street Cambridge, on Tuesday, November 6, 2007, from 2-4 + 7 -9 pm. Funeral services to be held on Wednesday, November 7, 2007, at 10 am at the funeral home and will continue at 1 pm at Parkview Cemetery and Crematorium, 335 University Avenue East, Waterloo, where the cremation will take place.
