  Death of William Scheulter Death came rather unexpectedly to the home of the oldest resident of this vicinity, Wm. Scheulter. He had been enjoying fairly good health for the last several years but complained of not feeling well for several days. On Thursday morning his condition became more serious and after twelve hours of severe illness he passed peacefully away on Aug. 18 at 5 pm. Deceased leaves behind four sons and four daughters and one brother to mourn his departure. His wife predeceased him seven years ago also two sons who died in infancy. Deceased was born in Hille Kreiss Minden, Westphalen, Germany, in 1839, and emigrated to Canada when 16 years of age. In the early part of his life he followed the shoe making trade. In 1865 on the 14th Feb he was married to Elisabeth Ludwig, only daughter of the late Adam Ludwig and a sister to Mr. John Ludwig of Elmira with whom he resided on a farm three miles north east of Linwood up to the time of his death. He was a faithful member of the Lutheran Church Linwood and had reached the ripe age of 71 years 3 months and 18 days. The funeral took place Sunday afternoon Aug. 21 from his late residence to the Lutheran Church Linwood where Rev. A. R. Schulz conducted a very impressive service after which the remains were taken to the Lutheran Cemetery and laid to rest beside the remains of his deceased wife and were followed by a large number of relatives and friends who had attended to show their last tribute of respect.
