    • Death of Jacob Martz

      Mr. Jacob Martz passed away on Tuesday forenoon as a result of a paralytic stroke at the home of his daughter, Mrs. John A. Rumig, at the Imperial Hotel. He had been in robust health up to the time he was stricken. The deceased had lived retired for the past 18 years, after farming successfully in South Easthope for many years. The deceased was born at St. Agatha on May 9th, 1853, and 55 years ago was married to Caroline Dietrich after which he settled on the farm. He was a faithful member of the Roman Catholic Church and was well known and esteemed in the neighborhood where he spent his whole life. There are left to mourn him his widow, four sons and three daughters, namely, John and Alex, of Kitchener, Nelson and Charles, of South Easthope, Mrs. J. A. Rumig, of New Hamburg, Mrs. Charles A. Montag, of Burlington, and Mrs. Timothy Hamilton, of Allandale. He is also survived by three brothers, August Martz, of Superior, Wisc.; Joseph, of Everett, Mich., and Frank, of Gooderham, Ont. The funeral will be held on Saturday forenoon to Holy Family Church followed by interment in the local R. C. Cemetery.
