• Notes

  She [Elizabeth Herber] came to Canada at the age of 3 years with her parents, Heinrich Jacob Herber (1796-1866) & Catherina Nicholi ( 1797-1834) and her brother, William. Elizabeth's mother Catherine, died shortly after arriving in Canada -25 February 1834 at the age of 36 years , 2 months and 5 days. She was buried in the then named Berlin graveyard 26 February, 1834. Elizabeth's father, Heinrich, was born 11 April, 1796 in Schweinsberg/Kurfurstenthum Hesson, Germany. He died 11 May May 1866 at the age of 70 years 1 month. Elizabeth's father went looking for someone to help raise his children. He asked a local farmer for one of his daughters to help.
