      William A. Mathison Passes in His 91st Year

      Ayr's oldest resident, in the person of William A. Mathison, passed away at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Alex. Fraser, Galt, on Tuesday, in his 91st year, after an illness of
      only two days. Deceased was born at Reidsville, of pioneer parents, and had lived the
      whole of his long lifetime in this vicinity, where he followed the occupation of farming. Mr. Mathison was known to practically everyone in this district where he was highly
      esteemed for his exemplary habits and other good qualities. He was superintendent of Reidsville Sabbath School for a number of years, and was a member of Stanley Street
      Church, later Joining Knox United when the two churches amalgamated. He was married 66 years ago in January to Louise Rae, Alps road, who survives him. Mrs. Mathison is now 85 years of age. He is also survived by the following family of six sons and three daughters: John and Thomas of Galt, Robert and James of Ayr, Edward of Orillia, Walter of Gleischen, Alta.; Mrs. Alex. Fraser, Galt; Mrs. James Scott, Ayr, and Mrs. Vance, Samson, Alta. One son, Norman, and one daughter, Louise, are deceased.
      The funeral will take place from the home of his son, James Mathison, Jedburgh, to the Ayr Cemetery on Friday afternoon, at 2:30 o'clock.
