PRESTON -Abraham Hagmeier, father of Drs. J. Edwin and L Gordon Hagmeier, of Preston Springs Hotel, died Saturday night in his 84th year. Widely known throughout Canada and the United States he was a noted gardener and flower lover. Born in Germany Mr. Hagmeier came to Canada in 1881 and after a year in Ottawa, came to the Hespeler district where he farmed until 1911 when he entered the produce and grocery business in Hespeler. He managed the business until he retired in 1923, when he lived in Kitchener for some years. Five years ago he became actively identified with the garden at Preston Springs. Mr. Hagmeier was a member of Zion Evangelical Church, Kitchener. His wife died in 1924. Surviving are two sons. Dr. J. Edwin and Dr. L. Gordon Hagmeier, the former of Kitchener and the latter of Preston.
