    • Death of John Schuler.

Another of our highly esteemed citizens has been called by death in the person of Mr. John Schuler who passed away at his home on Monday shortly before noon, at the age of 73 years. 11 months and 26 days. The deceased had always enjoyed good health but had not felt well for several weeks, and was suddenly stricken about two weeks ago, which attack was followed by a paralytic stroke on Monday night of last week, since when he had lain unconscious until death claimed him. The late Mr. Schuler was born in New Hamburg and with the exception of a few years' residence in Tavistock, spent all his life in this town. He carried on a blacksmith business here for several years and later was for many years an employee in the New Hamburg Mfg. Co.'s plant. He took an active part in municipal and political affairs, being councillor of the village for several years, and a staunch supporter of the Conservative party. He was married in 1875 to Margaret Ludwig of Sebringville, who survives him, besides a family of nine sons and daughters, Harry of Vanderlip, Pa., Edward of Rock Island, III., Melinda (Mrs. J. Peifer) of Kitchener, Ido (Mrs. Gid. Weber) of Monkton, Hilton and Violet (Mrs.) Clayton Ingold) of this town, Florence (Mrs. Blick of Toronto) Clara at home and Andrew of Toronto. One, Theodore, was killed in 1916 in the Great War, having enlisted at Stratford. The funeral was held on Wednesday afternoon from his late residence to Riverside cemetery and was largely attended. The funeral service was conducted by Rev. S. R. Knechtel, pastor of the Evangelical Church
