Notes: 6 Elgin St. N. Built c. 1889 First known as 14 Elgin St. N. Became 6 Elgin N. in 1947 when neighbouring houses were built. First occupant of record was James Hill, Gentleman, who lived in the house from 1889 to 1892 Mr. Hill continued to own the house but rented it to Robert R. Robertson, Clerk, from 1892 to 1895. Mr. Robertson then purchased the house and lived in it until c.1905. In c.1905 Mr. Robertson sold the house to George McBean, Milk Vendor, (sometimes reported as McBain). Mr. McBean lived in the house until c.1920 when he sold to George Johnston. Mr. Johnston lived in the house until his death in 1938 at which time his estate sold it to his son James Scrimger Johnston, Traveller for Ahrens Shoe Co. of Kitchener, who remained in the house until his death in 1951. The house then had a series of occupants. The longest residents after 1951 were Rosaire Chabot 1958-1967 and Ralph Sitak 1970 to present (1998). Prepared by the Cambridge Archives Dec. 1998
