Russel "Russ" CHARBONNEAU

CHARBONNEAU, Russel "Russ" 1927 - 2014 It is with more sorrow than any heart should have to bear, that the family of Russel Charbonneau announces his death at Grand River Hospital on May 18, 2014, at the age of 86. Predeceased by his beloved wife Shirley, Russ is survived by his children, Diane (Bryan Crowley) of Winnipeg, David (Coca) of North Vancouver, Gary (Sharon) of Waterloo, Paul (Doreen) of Nanaimo, Ann (Nick Sirenko) of Ottawa, and Gail (Wayne Vincent) of Oakville. He was a loving father and mentor to all. Russ is also survived by his siblings, Robert (Susan) Charbonneau, Elsie Dunn, and Paul (Barb) Charbonneau. His grandchildren were his gems, Heather, Matthew, Nash, Tess, Dylan, Briana, Alexa, Leah, Connor, Luke, Jenna and Ben. They will remember him well for his smile and fun-loving ways. He was predeceased by his parents Napoleon and Diana (nee Wunnenberg) Charbonneau, brother Ray Charbonneau, and brother-in-law Pat Dunn. Russ operated a corner store with his uncle, Fred Wunnenberg, at the corner of Park and Victoria St. for nearly 50 years. He was a dedicated family man who always put others first. In his spare time he enjoyed golf, fishing, bowling and socializing with friends at the Duke. He took great joy in making a connection with anyone and everyone he met. Visitation at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home , 171 King St. S., Waterloo, on Wednesday, May 21 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A funeral mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Lourdes RC Church, 173 Lourdes St., Waterloo on Thursday, May 22, at 10:30 a.m. Reception will follow in the Parish Hall. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Grand River Regional Cancer Centre, the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario, or the Canadian Diabetes Association by contacting the funeral home at www.erbgood.com or 519-745-8445.
