Bricker.-Jacob W. Bricker was born near Hawkesville, Ont., Jan. 6, 1848, died Oct. 22, 1926. On June 26, 1870 he was married to Magdalene Snider who predeceased him six years ago. He had been farming near Hawkesville till about twelve years ago, when, with the younger members of his family, he moved to Elmira. On the day of his death he had hurried down to the depot in order to catch an early train, but arrived too late apparently fatigued by his haste and exertion, he sat down in the station, but was suddenly stricken, and passed away in a few moments of time. He was a faithful member of the Elmira Mennonite Church. He is survived by five sons and three daughters (Joseph, Sarah, Mrs. John W. Schweitzer, Melissa, Mrs. Andrew Wilson, Amsy, Hanna, Mrs. James McCulough, Ephraim, Washington, and Arthur). There are 15 grandchildren and three brothers, (John, Elias, and Menno), two sisters, (Mrs. Reuben Weber, and Mrs. Sidney Snider). Funeral took place on Monday, Oct. 25, conducted by Brethren E. H. Bean and Oliver D. Snider. Texts, I Sam. 20: 3, (last clause; Phil. 1: 21.

MRS. JOHN W. SCHWEITZER

Mrs. John W. Schweitzer died suddenly March 31 at her residence, 15 Park Ave.. Elmira, in her 76th year. Born in Hawkesville, March 12, 1873, she was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Bricker. In 1902 she married John W. Schweitzer and lived in Heidelberg until 1909 when they moved to a farm near Elmira. In 1937 they moved to Elmira. She was a life-long member of the Evangelical United Brethren Church and a member of the Ladies Aid Society of the church. Her husband predeceased her Feb.18,1948.

Surviving are a son, Clarence of Elmira, two daughters, Mrs. Buskin (Ella) Keyes of Windsor, and Mrs. Ezra (Eileen) Miller of Kitchener, four brothers, Amsy Bricker of Calgary, Alta., Ephriam Bricker of Moose Jaw, Sask., Washington Bricker of Waterloo and Arthur of Elmira. Seven grandchildren also survive.

Remains rested at the Dreisinger Funeral Parlor, Elmira, until Saturday at one p.m. when they were removed to Evangelical United Brethen Church for funeral service at 2: 30 p.m. Burial was made in Elmira Cemetery. Rev. C. B. Heckendorn, assisted by Rev. E. M. Gishler, officiated.

Beloved husband of Gertrude Derbecker: dear father of Erle of Agincourt; grandfather of Richard, Robert, Barbara and Ronald; brother of Ella (Mrs. Ruskin Keyes) of Kitchener and Eileen (Mrs. Ezra Miller) of Kitchener; predeceased by his parents, the late John Schweitzer and Sarah Bricker.

He was born at Heidelberg, farmed near Elmira, then came to Kitchener, where he was employed with Lester Brox, Realtor, Waterloo. He was a mem- ber of Olivet United Church, Kitchener, the Kitchener Senior Citizens and the Christian Businessmen's Committee.

Mrs. Miller was a member of Calvary United Church, the UCW, was very active in church activities and a former member of the Rockway Senior Citizens Glee Club.

Beloved wife of the late Ezra Miller who predeceased her in 1976. Dear mother of Lorne and his wife Eve, Lois and her husband Arthur Hulks, all of Kitchener, Gloria and her husband Donald Dyson of Guelph, Janet and her husband William Whaley of Abbottsford, B.C. Lovingly remembered by her eight grandchildren and her 11 great-grandchildren. Also survived by her sister, Mrs. Ella Keyes of Kitchener and her several nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by her parents, John Schweitzer and the former Sarah Bricker and her daughter-in-law, Lynda Miller and brother, Clarence.

Schweitzer, Erle, 1939- 2008 Erle died as the result of a heart attack, at St. Mary's General Hospital, Kitchener, on Sunday, August 31, 2008. He was 69. He is survived by his wife, Grace (Martin) and their children, Richard Schweitzer and his wife Sarah Scroggie of Orangeville, Robert Schweitzer and his wife Ceridwyn Howard of Toronto, Barbara and her husband Timothy Dyck of Durham and Ronald Schweitzer and his partner Angela Freeman of Owen Sound. He will be fondly remembered by four grandchildren, William, Keiran, Annika and Lydia; his extended family and many close friends. Erle brought music to the lives of many people.
