    Gottfried Brutzki

    Gottfried Brutzki, 9 Main street, a resident of Waterloo for 17 years, died suddenly on Monday at his home. He was in his 72nd year.
    Mr. Brutzki was born in Germany. He came to Canada 50 years ago. He was employed at Snyder Bros. Ltd., until his retirement seven years ago.

    His wife predeceased him nine years ago and Mr. Brutzki is survived by five sons, Clayton of Bloom- ingdale, Gordon of Detroit, Edward of Ayr, Ivan and William at home. and three daughters, Mrs. Richard Mitchell, Ayr, Mrs. Herman Baer Brantford, and Nellie at home.

    The funeral will be held from his residence today (Thursday) at 2 p.m.. thence to Emmanuel Evangelical church for service at 2.30. Interment will be made at Waterloo Mount Hope Cemetery.

She was married to Richard Mitchell, 51 years ago and the couple lived in Bright and Drumbo, before moving to Ayr, 30 years ago. Her husband died three years ago. Surviving are three sons, Howard of RR 2, Paris, Clarence of New Dundee and Richard at home; four daughters, Mrs. Murray (Stella) Smith and Mrs. Gilbert (Helen) Pipe, both of Ayr, Mrs. Thomas (Laura) Hogg of Galt, Mrs. Alex (Blanche) King of Montreal; four brothers, Edwin and William, both of Waterloo, Clayton of Kitchener, and Gordon of Detroit; two sisters, Lillian of Waterloo and Mrs. ClaraBaer of Brantford; 28 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.     Notes:

    Man Killed Near Petersburg

    A retired Waterloo man was killed last Tuesday afternoon when the truck he was driving collided with a train near Petersburg.

    Dead is Edwin Brutzki, 65.

    He was driving his pickup along Waterloo County Road 6, about one-half mile north of Highway 7 and 8 at Petersburg when the mishap occurred.

    No one was injured on the train

    Police said the truck was completely demolished. One spectator described it as crumpled like a piece of tissue paper.

    Damage to the train was estimated by CNR officials at about $1,000.

    A post mortem was performed last Wednesday at St. Mary's Hospital in Kitchener.

    Well known Ayr resident Stella Mae (Mitchell) died after a brief illness at the Brantford General Hospital on Friday, March 26,2004. She was in her 91st year

    Born in Bright she was the daughter of the late Meta Brutzki and Richard Mitchell

    Stella and her late husband, Murray E. Smith (1987) owned and operated the Green Thistle Restaurant in Ayr for many years. She was also a longtime employee of the Queen's Tavern in Ayr.

    She is survived by her daughter, Shirley and her husband Robert Watson of Ayr, and by her grandsons Jamie Watson and his wife Eve of Fort William, Scotland and Duane Watson and his wife Angela of Ayr and great-grand-daughter Carmen of Scotland.

    In addition to her parents and husband she was predeceased by her infant twin daughters Florence and Faye (1938); sisters Laura Hogg, Helen Pipe, Blanche King and brothers Howard, Clarence and Dick Mitchell Funeral service was livid at the Ayr Chapel, Win Kipp Funeral Home on Tuesday. She will be missed by her children, Jean and her husband Ed Hachey of Ayr, Mary and her husband David Cochrane of Paris, Jim and his wife Carol of Ayr and Don and his wife Melissa of Kitchener; grandchildren Kim, Danny, Erin, Brian, Josh and Kaitlin and great-grandson Trevor; her sister Stella Smith and her brother Howard Mitchell and his wife Jean all of Ayr. Mrs. Pipe was also predeceased by brothers Richard and Sam and by sisters Laura and Blanche. Funeral service was held at the Ayr Chapel, Wm.     William Pipe Dies Of Accident Injuries

    The community was saddened by the untimely death early Saturday morning of William John Pipe, 22, in K-W Hospital. He was critically injured in a traffic accident north of Roseville on O-tober 21, and remained in coma until his passing.

    He was a passenger in a station wagon driven by A. W. Wood of Ayr, which was in collision with a gravel truck at the intersection of the Roseville - Kitchener Road and County Road 7. Mr. Pipe was born in Ayr on September 27. 1944, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Pipe, and had lived all of his life in the village.

    He was one of the community's most talented and well liked athletes, excelling particularly in hockey. He came up through the Ayr minor hockey system and subsequently played with the Ayr Rockets. as well as with Paris and New Hamburg junior clubs. Mr. Pipe also was a former member of the Ayr Vets softball club.

    He attended Ayr public school and later secondary schools in Galt. At the time of his death he was a student at a Kitchener collegiate, and was on his way to classes when the tragic accident occurred.

    Mr. Pipe was an adherent of Christ Church, Ayr.

    Surviving, besides his parents, are two sisters, Mrs. Edward Hachey (Jean) of Ayr and Miss Mary Pipe of Kitchener, two brothers, James and Donald at home.
    Funeral service was held on Monday from the Coutts & Son Funeral Home, Galt. with interment in Ayr Cemetery. Rev. N. A. Tilford officiated.

    Pallbearers were: Reed Wilson, Cameron Ballantyne, Robert Watson, Dean Sayles David Horgan and Ivan Hall, all of Ayr district.
