    Death Claims Mary Girodat

    Mother of Local Woman Mortician Succumbs at Age of 89


    Mrs. Mary Girodat, 89, died Friday morning at the residence of her daughter, Mrs. Joseph J. Kennedy, 748 Bridge st., N. W., after a brief illness.

    She was the widow of Christopher Girodat, who died 35 years ago. Born in Baden, Ont., she came to Grand Rapids 63 years ago from Detroit. She had been a member of St. Mary's church and Altar society. On Feb. 25, 1938, she celebrated her golden jubilee as a member of the Third Order of St. Francis.

    Besides Mrs. Kennedy she is survived by two daughters, Miss. Eleanor Girodat, a mortician of this city, and Mrs. Otto Bevenitz of Springfield, Ill. The body will be at Mrs. Kennedy's home. Funeral services will he held at 9 o'clock Monday at St. Mary's church and burial will he in Mt. Calvary cemetery.
