    Louise Gremm

    The death took place early Sunday morning. April 19th. of Louise Gremm. Death was due to several strokes. Deceased, who was highly esteemed, was in her 69th year. She lived her entire life on the Hessen strasse She is survived by by one sister and three brothers, (Margaret) Mrs. William Hoerle of near Wellesley. Henry Gremm of Waterloo. John Gremm of Bamberg: Louis Gremm of near Bamberg. One sister and two brothers predeceased her: also her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Gremm (nee Catherine Heimpel).

    Rev. Mr. Schultz conducted the service The funeral took place on Tuesday, April 21st. from her late residence to the Lutheran Church and cemetery of which deceased was a devoted member

    The pallbearers were William Leis of Kitchener. Elmer Moser of Milverton, William Gremm of Wellesley, George Foerster of Waterloo. Norman Gremm of near Bamberg and Austin Gremm of Waterloo.

    Mrs. Henry Bach

    Elmira - Funeral service for Mrs. Henry (Harry) Bach, 71 of 8 South St, Elmira, who died Wednesday at K-W Hospital after a brief illness, will be held Saturday at 2: 30 p.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Elmira. The body will be at the Ratz-Bechtel Funeral Home until 11 a.m. Saturday, when removal will be made to the church. Rev. Dayton Fritz of Elmira, and Rev. Otto Brillinger of New Hamburg will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Hope cemetery, Waterloo. Born in Wellesley Township, Mrs. Bach was the former Luella Gremm, a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Henry Gremm. She had lived in Bamberg for many years before moving to Elmira and the New Hamburg area. She was predeceased by her husband in 1958. Mrs. Bach was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church. She is survived by a sister, Mrs. Herman (Catherine) Wolfe, Waterloo. Donations to the mission fund of St. Paul's Lutheran Church will be accepted as expressions of sympathy.

The family will receive friends at the Barthel-Stager Funeral Home, 566 Queenston Rd., Cambridge, today (Monday), 7-9; Tuesday, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home on Wednesday, Nov. 25, 1987, at 1: 30 p.m. Interment Parklawn cemetery.

    Three Charged With Arson In Farmhouse Fire

    Three youths were charged with setting a fire that destroyed a vacant farm house one mile east of Wellesley last month.
    Charged with arson by provincial police last week were Larry Gerber, 20, and Gerald Jantzi, 19, both of RR 2, Wellesley, and Gerald Wagler, 18, of RR 1, Millbank.

    The two-storey brick building that has been vacant for some years is owned by Alma and Alifa Hoerle of Milverton.

    The youths appeared before Magistrate Barron last week to set a trial date. At that time they were remanded in custody. Bail was set at $1,000 cash or $2,000 property.

    ALVIN H. DUENCH 1912 - 2007 - Passed away peacefully, at Sunnyside Home, Kitchener, on Wednesday, April 18, 2007, at the age of 94 years. Alvin was born in Wellesley Township. He was married to Lydia (nee Goettling) in 1930. Together, they raised their four children and after various work experiences, he worked for the City of Waterloo Works Department until his retirement. Alvin faithfully ushered at St. John's Lutheran Church for 47 years and lived at his home in Waterloo for more than 60 years. Alvin was predeceased by his beloved wife, Lydia, in 2000; and his half-brothers, Dick, Fred, and Herman Wolfe. He is survived by his children, William (Maureen), Marie (Denis) Morneau, Margaret (Bill) Fetter, and Donald (Ruth). Grandchildren, Lee Ann, Patrick, Christopher, and Kerry Duench, Tara (Ron) Brown, Melissa, Shannon, Nichole, Kathleen and Jaimie Duench, Rosemarie and Terry Morneau, Alison, Corinne and Tim Fetter, as well as one great-granddaughter Daniela Duench.     With great sadness, but gratitude for a long life well-lived, Helen's family announces her passing on Tuesday, June 28, 2022.

    Helen was born in Kitchener on May 27, 1928 to William (Bill) and Priscilla (Sparky) Leis and spent her entire 94-year life in a city she was proud to call home. She married Louis Kennedy (died 1997) in 1949 and started on a journey she excelled at as a wife, mother to nine children, grandmother to 19 and great-grandmother to 12.

    Her family meant everything to her and she was often heard bragging about her large clan. Loving, kind, thoughtful and honest, she was an incredible role model for her family. She was the kind of person who shared everything she had and welcomed anyone to her home. The Kennedy family Christmas gatherings on Waterloo Street were legendary, with dozens of visitors dropping in. There was always enough for everyone.

    She loved to bake and there was rarely a day when there weren't fresh cookies for after-school snacks or pies and cakes for dessert on the table. Cooking, cleaning and caring for a large family was more than a full-time job. Knitting was her passion, having made hundreds of pairs of slippers and mittens, sweaters and baby clothes. Her hands were never still with her knitting needles clacking away every evening.

    After raising her children, Helen went out to work as one of the "cafeteria ladies" at KCI. She loved working at the school she attended in the 1940s and all of her children attended in the '60s and '70s. If she knew of a student who didn't have enough to pay for lunch, she would quietly dip into her own pocket to make sure they had something to eat. That's the kind of lady Helen was.

    Forever loved and remembered by her daughters Catherine Owens (late Marv 1998), Janet Kennedy (pre-deceased her in 2009), Shirlee Kennedy (Garnet Dobsky), Barbara Kennedy, Karen Lawrence (Bruce) and her sons Robert Kennedy (Linda), Bruce Kennedy (Donna), Douglas Kennedy and Richard Kennedy (Elaine).

    Grandma will be sadly missed and always loved by her 19 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Helen was pre-deceased by her granddaughters Julie Owens and Jaclyn Saunders.

    Have a good long rest Mom, you earned it!

    Cremation has taken place. A celebration of her life will be planned for a future date. Donations may be made to St. Marks Place.
