    Mrs. Joseph B. Jantzi The death occurred at Newton on Monday, Oct. 18th, of Mattie Boshart, widow of the late Joseph B. Jantzi, of East Zorra, and mother of Mr. Jonas B. Jantzi, of New Hamburg, in her 79th year. The remains were brought to her late home on the 18th line of East Zorra, from where the funeral was held yesterday afternoon to the 1Gth line Mennonite Church and Cemetery, and was largely attended. The deceased was well known and highly esteemed in the community. Her husband and three sons, Joseph B., Rudy and Michael B., predeceased her. She leaves one son and six daughters to mourn her demise.

    Jantzi.-Rudy B. Yantzi was born in Waterloo Co., Ont., Dec. 2, 1867; died at his home in Oxford Co., Ont., June 11, 1926; aged 58 y. 6 m. 9 d. He grew to manhood at his father's home in Waterloo Co., till about the year 1892, when the family moved to the state of Minnesota where they lived till about 1912, when they moved back to Canada on the farm where he died. In the year 1893, Feb. 2, he was married to Katie Brunk of Perth Co., Ont. To this union were born 1 son and three daughter, the son having preceded his father to eternity. He leaves a widow, 3 daughters, 1 grandchild, his aged mother,2 brothers, and 6 sisters. Burial at the East Zorra A. M. Church of which he was a member, on June 13. Service at the home by P. S. Zehr. (II Cor. 5: 1-10) at the church by Jacob R. Bender (Heb. 6), Christ Gascho (John 5: 24-29) and closing remarks by D. Sl Jutzi.

    Kropp.-Leah Jantzi was born in Wellesley, Ont., Dec. 2, 1875; passed away at her home near Pigeon, Mich., May 22, 1947; aged 71 y. 5 m. 20 d. Her death resulted from a stroke. In her youth she united with the Wellesley A.M. Church. At the age of 16 she moved with her parents to Wilmont, Minn. On Dec. 24, 1905, at Goshen, Ind., she was united in marriage to Jacob B. Yutzi, who predeceased her in death on Jan. 28, 1921. In November, 1910 they moved to Huron Co., Mich. To this union were born 2 children (Joseph and Esther). In April, 1928 she was united in marriage to Solomon Kropp, who survives. Also surviving are her 2 children (Joseph, Birmingham, Mich.; and Esther, Detroit, Mich.), one grandson, one stepson (Solomon Kropp, Jr.), 4 stepgrandchildren, 4 sisters (Mrs. Fannie Gerber, Millbank, Ont.; Mrs. Mary Knepfer, Newton, Ont.; Mrs. Aaron Helmuth, Tavistock, Ont.; and Mrs. David Miller, Goshen, Ind.) and one brother (Jonas B. Jantzi, New Hamburg, Ont.). She was a member of the Pigeon River A.M. congregation at the time of her death. Funeral services were held May 24, in charge of Raymond Byler, at the home, and Earl Maust and Emanuel Swartzendruber, at the church. Burial was made in the adjoining cemetery.

    Mrs. Salome
    On Sunday, March 3, 1991, at St. Mary's Hospital, Kitchener, Salome Litwiller, of RR 2, Petersburg.
    She was born in Wilmot township 95 years ago, a daughter of the late John Gascho and the former Mary Schultz. She was a member of the Steinmann Mennonite Church, RR 2, Baden, where she was a member of the WMSC. She enjoyed needlework and quilting. She was a lifelong resident of Wilmot township. She was the last surviving member of her family.
    Beloved wife of Elmer, Litwiller who predeceased her September 13, 1984. Lovingly remembered by one son, Earl and his wife Mary of RR 2, Petersburg. Dear grandmother of Duane Litwiller and his wife Susan of RR 2, Petersburg, Sheryl and her husband Albert Crabbe of Baden. Fondly remembered by five great-grandchildren, Gregory and Kara Litwiller, Jacqueline, Victoria and Suzanne Crabbe and four sisters-in-law, Mrs. Mabel (Daniel) Gascho of Kitchener, Mrs. Ida (Norman) Gascho of New Hamburg, Mrs. Louise (William) Litwiller of Lowville, N.Y. and Elmeda and her husband Henry Bechler of Pigeon, Mich.
    She was predeceased by her brothers, Daniel and Norman Gascho and her sisters, Nancy (Mrs. Michael Roth) and Leah (Mrs. Simeon Jutzi).
    Friends and relatives may call at the Mark Jutzi Funeral Home, 291 Huron St., New Hamburg, after 7 p.m. this evening (Monday), until Wednesday at noon, when transfer will be made to the Steinmann Mennonite Church for the service at 2 p.m., with Pastor Fred Lichti and Pastor Elmer Schwartzentruber officiating. Spring interment in the adjoining church cemetery.
    As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to the Gospel Echo Prison Ministry or the Mennonite Central Committee.

    JANTZI, Ruth (Roth) Passed away peacefully with family by her side on Wednesday, March 31, 2010 at K-W Health Centre of the Grand River Hospital. Ruth was born 78 years ago in Wellesley Township and was a daughter of the late Joseph J. and Violet (Jantzi) Gerber. Ruth was a member of Hillcrest Mennonite Church, New Hamburg. Beloved wife of Laverne Jantzi whom she married April 19, 1997, and the late Leonard Christian Roth who predeceased her February 15, 1996. Loving mother of Karen and husband Ed Gunn of Vancouver, B.C., Barry Roth and wife Sharon of Baden, Darryl Roth and wife Catharine of Victoria, B.C., and Melanie and husband Paul Smith of London. Special grandmother to Raphael, Evangelina, Andrew and Nicole. Forever remembered by one sister Esther and Sydney Sauder of Stratford. Sadly missed by sisters-inlaw Madeliene Gerber of Millbank, Ruby Roth of Tavistock, Florence Roth, Elda Roth and Mary Ropp, all of New Hamburg. Ruth is lovingly remembered by Laverne's children, Glen and Eleanor Jantzi, Myron and Mary Jantzi, Larry and Dorothy Jantzi, Ruth Anne and Jonathan Koch, and Laverne's 12 grandchildren and 1 great-grandson. Ruth was predeceased by one son Ronald Lee (1964), grandson Graham Mackenzie (1995), brother Norman Gerber, brothers and sisters-in-law Ivan and Marie Jantzi, Vernon Roth, Lorne and Esther Roth, Wilfred Roth and Stanley and Leona Ropp. Friends and relatives may call at the Mark Jutzi Funeral Home, 291 Huron St., New Hamburg on Sunday, April 4, 2010 from 7-9 p.m. and again Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held at Hillcrest Mennonite Church on Tuesday, April 6, 2010 at 2: 00 p.m. with Pastor Jan Steckley and Pastor Bruce Sawatsky officiating. Burial to follow at 16th Line East Zorra Mennonite Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy memorial donations may be made to the Grand River Hospital Foundation (Freeport Hospital or Cancer Centre) or the charity of choice.
