    Gerber. - John K., son of Valentine and Katie (Kennel) Gerber, was born in Waterloo Co., Ont., Sept. 17, 1880; died at his home near Nappanee, Ind., from paralysis, Sept. 29, 1940; aged 60 y. 12 d. At the age of 4 he came with his parents to the States, settling first in Nebraska, but later he moved to Indiana, and has resided around Bremen and Nappanee the greater part of his life. He was united in marriage to Barbara Yoder, at Wilmot, Minn., Feb. 5, 1903. This union was blessed with 3 sons and 4 daughters. He is the first one in this family to enter the eternal home. He leaves his companion, 3 sons (Valentine of Nappanee, Floyd of Syracuse, and Moses of Elkhart), 4 daughters (Mrs. Eli Yoder of Nappanee, Mrs. Roman Slabaugh of Milford, Mrs. Christ Miller of Middlebury, and Katherine at home), 19 grandchildren, 2 brothers (Valentine Gerber, of Conneautville, Pa.; and Moses Gerber of Zurich, Ont.), 3 sisters (Mrs. Mattie Jantzi and Mrs. Rachel Jantzie both of Furgas, Ont.; Mrs. Fannie Erb of Zuirch, Ont.). Quite early in life he chose Christ as his Saviour and united with the Amish Church. Later he transferred his membership to the Mennonite Church, having his church home with the North Main St., congregation in Nappanee, at the time of his decease. Services were held Oct. 2 at the Mennonite Church in Nappanee, conducted by Homer F. North. Burial in the South Union Cemetery.

    Gerber, Moses K., son of Valentine and Catherine (Kennel) Gerber, was born March 8, 1886, in Holt Co., Nebr.; died at Zurich, Ont., Nov. 3, 1960; aged 74 y. 7 m. 26 d. On Oct. 13, 1913, he was married to Mary Gingerich, who survives. Also surviving are one son and 4 daughters (Orland, Mabel, Beatrice, Irene, and Ilene), 24 grandchildren, one great-grandchild, one sister (Mrs. Aaron Erb, Zurich), and one brother (Valentine, ---, Pa.). He was a member of the Blake A.M. Church, where funeral services were held Nov. 6, in charge of Solomon Baechler and Ephraim Gingerich.

    GERBER, Orland Passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at VON Sakura House, Woodstock on Saturday, January 3, 2015. Orland resided in Baden and was born 85 years ago in Hay Township. He was the son of the late Moses K. and Mary (Gingerich) Gerber. Beloved husband of Marcella (Boshart) Gerber with whom he celebrated 63 years of marriage. Loving father of Linda Fewkes and friend Martin McLaughlan, Bruce Gerber, Sandra Kirk and husband Jamie McQuay all of Baden; and Paul and wife Jamie Gerber of Waterloo. Sadly missed by his grand-children Jay Fewkes (Fiona), Joel Gerber (Heather), Stacey Gerber (Chris), Melissa Kirk (Russell), Alysha Kirk (Alex), Alexandria Kirk (Jordan), Emma Gerber and great-grand-children Ewan Fewkes, Ava and Isaac Gerber. Remembered by many nieces and nephews. Orland was pre-deceased by daughter-in-law Debra Gerber, granddaughter Jennifer Fewkes, sisters Mabel and husband Nelson Riley, Beatrice and husband Laverne Heywood, Ilene and husband Leroy Pothoff, Irene and husband Albert Clausius, father-in-law and mother-in-law Gideon and Pearl Boshart and brother-in-law Delford Boshart. Orland was an active member of First Mennonite Church, Kitchener and also a member of the IEBW 804. He was a volunteer fireman for the Baden Fire Department for 40 years and was a founding member of the Wilmot Heritage Fire Brigades. Orland was an electrician for Sutherland-Schultz for over 40 years and served on the Kitchener-Wilmot Hydro Commission. Family and friends will be received at the Mark Jutzi Funeral Home, 291 Huron Street, New Hamburg on Tuesday, January 6, 2015 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. and Wednesday January 7, 2015 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will take place on Thursday January 8, 2015 at 2 p.m. at First Mennonite Church, Kitchener with Pastor Nancy Brubaker officiating. Interment to follow in First Mennonite Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to VON Sakura House, Prostate Cancer Research or First Mennonite Church.
