    John A. Walsh of 204 Lourdes St., Waterloo, a funeral director for 44 years, died Sunday after a lengthy illness. He was 82. He owned the former Walsh Funeral Home (now Walsh Sandrock Funeral Home) in Waterloo for 30 years until retirement in 1962. Mr. Walsh was a member of [Our Lady of] Lourdes RC Church, Waterloo, the Waterloo Lawn Bowling Club, past grand knight of the Kitchener council, Knights of Columbus, charter member and past faithful navigator of Father Funcken's general assembly. He was also a charter and honorary member of the Waterloo Knights of Columbus, past grand commander of the Alhambra, honorary member of the Holy Name Society and honorary member of the Central Ontario funeral Directors Association. Born in Maryborough Township, he was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Walsh. Surviving, in addition to his wife, the former Johannah Murphy, whom he married in St. Marys in 1912, are three sons, Austin J., John W., and Harold V., all of Waterloo; one daughter, Mrs. Cyril (Marguerite) Fedy of Waterloo; two brothers, Msgr. Vincent Walsh of Stratford and Norman J. of Guelph; 16 grandchildren. He was predeceased by two brothers and two sisters. The body is at the Ratz-Bechtel Funeral Home where the parish rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. today followed by the Knights of Columbus scripture service at 8: 30 p.m. Prayers will be said at the funeral home Tuesday at 9: 30 a.m. followed by removed to Our Lady of Lourdes Church for requiem high mass at 10 a.m. Msgr. Vincent Walsh will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Hope cemetery.
