    ''Tis hard to part with father, dear,
    No more to see him here;
    But yet we're glad if God saw best,
    To end his troubles and give him rest,
    In heaven to reign with angels fair,
    May our names too be written there."

    Jantzi, -- John B. , son of Jacob and Fanny (Boshart) Jantzi, was born at Wellesley, Waterloo Co. , Ont. , May 30, 1876; departed this life July 31, 1937; aged 61 y. 2 m. 1 d. Father and mother were on an extended visit to the Pacific Northwest and Alberta., Can. , when death suddenly overtook him following a heart attack, at the home of his son, Royden Jantzi, Scio, Oreg. He with his grandson had gone into the barn to spread hay when suddenly the Lord laid His hand upon him and took him home. When 14 years of age he accompanied his mother to Nebraska. The family settled on a farm near Milford in Seward Co. , where he grew to manhood. He later took up farming for himself after the retirement of mother. On Jan. 5, 1899, he was united in marriage to Mary M. Conrad. In 1905 he with his family located on a farm near Wood River, Nebr. , which has been his home for the past 32 years. In his youth he accepted Christ as his Savior and united with the Mennonite Church at Milford, Nebr. , later transferring his membership to the Wood River Mennonite Church where he remained a faithful member till death. He was a charter member and worked hard to establish a church of his faith in this community. He was an active worker in the church and was always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need. He leaves to mourn his sudden departure his deeply bereaved wife and 5 children (Ezra E. , Daniel J. , Mrs. Homer Schweitzer, Mrs. Clarence D. Stutzman, all of Wood River, and Royden B. , of Scio, Oreg.), 19 grandchildren, and his only sister, Mrs. Katie Zehr of Salem, Oreg. His parents, 2 grand children, and a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Royden Jantzi, preceded him in death. He was a kind and loving husband, father, and neighbor and was held in high esteem by all who knew him. Funeral services were held at the Fairview Mennonite church near Albany, Oreg. , on Sunday afternoon, before the body was taken to his home at Wood River. Fred Gingerich and N. A. Lind had charge of the services. On Thursday afternoon, Aug. 5, funeral services were held at the Wood River F Mennonite church conducted by Geo. S. Miller, assisted by J. E. Zimmerman of Milford and Wm. R. Eicher of Beaver Crossing Nebr. Interment in adjoining cemetery.

    In our hearts his memory lingers,
    But we know 'tis vain to weep;
    Tears of love can never wake him
    From his peaceful, quiet sleep.

    Eicher.-Amanda Mae Brenneman was born at Wellesley, Ont., June 7, 1897; died at her home near Albany, Oreg., July 22, 1939; aged 42 y. 1 m. 15 d. She moved with her parents to Nebraska in 1900 and to Oregon in 1915, where she spent the rest of her life except four years. 1921 to 1924. She lived with her husband at Archbold, Ohio, and during the school year of 1921-1922 she attended two terms at Hesston College at Hesston, Kans. She was married to S. E. Eicher Sept. 12, 1922, who with one adopted daughter (Shirley Maxine) survive her. She is also survived by her aged mother (Mary Brenneman, Albany, Oregon), three brothers (Jacob Brenneman, Tofield. Alta., M. E., and Dan H. Brenneman of Albany), two sisters (Mrs. Kate Martin and Mrs. Mary Kenagy, of Albany), besides many other relatives and friends. Although deprived of the blessing of children of her own, she was much concerned for other children, especially those who were unfortunate or deprived of happy homes. During her married life, she with her husband at different periods of time took into their home and cared for nine of these unfortunate children, besides adopting permanently the daughter who helped minister to her in her latter days. Her love for and aptness in teaching children won her a place as teacher in the Primary Department of the Mennonite Sunday school, where she served faithfully for 12 years, as long as her health permitted. Early in life she developed a weak heart condition which brought on dropsy and other complications. She suffered a great deal during the last eight years of her life, having also suffered a paralytic stroke a little more than a year ago. She was a loving and devoted wife, a faithful Christian, and loyal to her Church, she spent much of her time while she suffered on her bed in Bible reading and was always eager to have the Bible read to her and prayer offered by those who came to her bedside to offer comfort and courage. She often longed to leave this body of suffering and go home, and she passed peacefully away into the haven of rest. Funeral services were conducted at the Albany Mennonite Church by S. C. Yoder, Geo. Kauffman, and N. A. Lind, and burial in Riverside cemetery.

    Schlabach. - Annie, daughter of John L. and Catherine Schultz, was born March 29, 1888; died Sept. 11, 1941, at the Manitou Hospital, Waltrous, Sask.; aged 53 y. 5 m. 13 d. Her passing came very unexpectedly, being well. After a major operation she lived only 7 days, her heart not being able to withstand the shock. She had a similar operation 13 years ago and one 10 years ago. On Feb. 26, 1913, she was married to Dan Schlabach, after which they made their home in Saskatchewan. To this union were born 4 sons and 1 baby girl, 6 weeks old, was adopted in 1933. She accepted Christ as her personal Saviour when 18 years old, and served her Lord until death. While she was not a public worker, she was very much concerned about the safety of the ungodly, often expressing her wish that God will give them time to get right with Him. A little over a year ago she, with her husband, was ordained to the ministry to have charge of the Sharon Mennonite Church near Guernsey, Sask. She labored faithfully by her husband's side, visiting the sick, concerned about the poor, and donating many flowers to the aged and friends. She leaves to mourn: her husband, 4 sons, 1 daughter, 1 brother, and 2 sisters. Her parents and 1 brother preceded her to glory. Funeral services were held at the Sharon Mennonite Church, conducted by Bros. J. B. Stauffer of Tofield, Alta., and Edwin Bartel, Drake, Sask. The body was taken to Baden, Ont., to the home where she was born, raised, and married - now the home of Bro. and Sister Dave Holst. Funeral services were held at St. Agatha A. M. Church where she was baptized 35 years ago, in charge of Bros. M. H. Schmitt, formerly of Guernsey who ordained her, and M. O. Jantzi.

    God alone knows of how we miss her, For she was one of the best."
