    KITCHENER, Ont., - CP) \emdash David Alexander Bean, 86, a former Kitchener publisher died Wednesday. At the age of 22,

    Mr. Bean became managing director and publisher of his father's newspaper, the Berlin Telegraph, which later became the Kitchener Telegraph.

    When the Telegraph was bought by the Kitchener-Waterloo Record in 1922, Mr. Bean launched an insurance company.

    He is survived by three sons, Air Vice-Marshal Wilfred Bean, air member for technical services in Ottawa; Walter Bean of Waterloo and Audrey Bean of Kitchener; and by one daughter, Mrs. Fred Breithaupt of Kitchener. Funeral will be held in Kitchener Friday.

    David married Rose Anna Winter 18 May 1904, Toronto, York Co., Ontario, Canada.     Notes:

    Kitchener native, Walter A. Bean graduated from the University of Toronto in 1930.

    Commissioned in the Scots Fusiliers of Canada, he volunteered for overseas service in 1940 with the Highland Light Infantry of Canada attaining the rank of Brigadier by June 1945. He served as a senior staff officer in the United Kingdom, North Africa, and in the Pacific Theatre. Later he commanded the Canadian Pacific force headquarters and later the 2nd Infantry Brigade Militia.

    Bean was made a Commander of the Order of the British Empire and was awarded the Efficiency Decoration and the Canada Decoration.

    Bean served as president of the Kitchener Chamber of Commerce, the Gyro Club and was KW Citizen of the Year in 1973. He served the Waterloo Trust in various executive capacities becoming Deputy Chairman and vice-president of Canada Trust. He was Chairman and/or director of many local and national financial and industrial organizations.

    SEIBERT, Sally Ann (nee Bean) It is with great sadness that the family of Sally Seibert announces her passing, at age 73, on Sunday, August 20, 2017 at the Freeport Campus of Grand River Hospital. Sally was predeceased by her loving parents, Doris (Bradshaw) and Aubrey Bean, her son Steve, and her sister Martha Brown (Foster). Loving mother of sons Jeffrey Seibert, Waterloo and Derek Seibert, Kansas; beloved sister of Michael (Mary Ann), twin sister Diane (Doug Smith, deceased), step-sister of Diane Duffield, John Duffield and Charles Duffield (Charmaine); proud grand- mother of Keelan, Lukas and Cameron Seibert, and great-grandmother of Lilah Seibert; much loved and missed by the mother of her grandchildren, Lisa Seibert (Randy Scott) and fondly remembered by Dave Seibert. Sally grew up in Kitchener and attended KCI, followed by Stratford Teachers College. She loved children and enjoyed teaching elementary school in Kitchener until the birth of her first child. In later years, Sally enjoyed working at Westmount Pharmacy, experiencing regular contact with people, especially old friends. Sally was a much loved "Aunt Sals" to her nieces and nephews- Michael Bean (Carolyn), David Bean (Liz), Christopher Bean (Anh Minh), Marcia La Roue (Patrick), Kate Brown, David Brown and their families. They will always remember the fun times shared with their special aunt. Sally will be missed greatly by her many friends who shared such happy times with her and who will cherish the memory of her infectious laughter and kind and generous nature. The family would like to thank Dr. Michael Koke and the staff at Freeport Hospital for their care and support during Sally's lengthy stay there. Friends are invited to share memories of Sally during a visitation at Westheights Community Church, 82 Westheights Dr. Kitchener, on Friday, August 25th from 9:30-10:30 a.m.; Memorial Service at 11 a.m., reception to follow.
