    Snider. - Leander Snider was born near Bloomingdale, Ont., June 15, 1876; died near Bridgeport, Ont., May 16, 1924; aged 47 y. 11 m. Bro. Snider was converted and joined with the Mennonite Church quite a number of years ago. In 1891 he was married to Elmina Kraft, who together with four sons and three daughters are left to mourn the loss of a kind husband and father. Four brothers and three sisters are also left behind. Funeral services were held at the First Mennonite Church, Kitchener, Ont., conducted by the brethren, U. K. Weber and H. W. Stevanus

    Leander Snyder

    A well known and respected resident of Waterloo township passed away on Friday morning in the person of Leander Snyder at his home near Bloomingdale in his 48th year. The funeral which was held on Sunday afternoon was largely attended. A short service was held at the home after which an impressive service was conducted at the East End Mennonite church at Kitchener, interment taking place in the adjoining cemetery. A sorrowing wife and seven children survive, namely, Harold. Nora, Laurene, Arthur, Eva, Stuart and Gordon.

    Funeral service was conducted in Kitchener, Saturday for the former Laurene Snyder of Baden. She died last Wednesday at St. Mary's Hospital at the age of 67. Burial will be Steinmann Mennonite Cemetery.

    Cambridge SNYDER Gordon Leander - At Cambridge Memorial Hospital, on Tuesday January 20, 2004, in his 86th year

    He was the last survivor of the children of the late Leander and Elmina (Kraft) Snyder.

    Dear father of Douglas and his wife Nancy of Dundas, Reginald of Waterloo, Thomas and his wife Bonnie of Kitchener, Michael and his wife. Bonnie of Kitchener, Barrie and his wife Linda of Ottawa, Catherine Snyder of Cambridge. Also survived by many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

    Predeceased by his wife, Eileen Fos ter (1998); brothers, Harold, Arthur and Stuart and sisters, Laurene Shantz, Nora Weber and Eva Shantz.

    Mr. Snyder was born in Waterloo Township on October 22, 1918 and has been a resident of the area most of his life. He retired in 1983 after 27 years with Avco New Idea Farm Equipment and was a member of St. John's Anglican Church. He served as air crew with the 101 squadron of the R.A.F. in Europe during the Second World War.

    The family will receive friends at the Barthel Funeral Home, 566 Queenston Rd. Cambridge on Thursday January 22, 2004 from 7-9 p.m. Funeral services will take place at St. John's Anglican Church, 567 Queenston Rd., on Friday, January 23, 2004, at 1:30 p.m. Interment will take place at the Park Lawn Cemetery,Cambridge.     MILLER, Rebecca Eileen (Becky) (nee Shantz) Of St. Jacobs, passed away peacefully in her 85th year, with family at her side, on April 22, 2012 at the Freeport Health Centre of Grand River Hospital after a brief illness. She was born in Bloomingdale on July 19, 1927 to the late Irvin and Laurene Shantz. Cherished mother of Paul Miller (Pauline) of St. Jacobs and Lynn Bell (Peter) of Cambridge. Rebecca will be missed dearly by her three grandchildren; Rob Duncan (Ally), Krissie O'Dell (Richard) and David Miller; her great-grandchildren Charlie Duncan, Connor Duncan, and Boston O'Dell will miss their Nana. She was looking forward to the birth of her first great- granddaughter. Rebecca is also survived by her siblings; Ken Shantz (Hazel), Dorothy Schwindt (Don), Willard Shantz (Jean), Eva Clark and Judy Bollenbach (Albert). Also survived by her sisters and brothers-in-law; Marg Shantz, Ruth Shantz, Stan and Connie Miller. She will also be remembered by her many nieces and nephews. She will be fondly thought of by Christopher, Tara and Edwin Bell, Matthew Bell (Monica), Daniel Bell (Sarah), Sabrina Paradis and Alexis Paradis Bell. She will be missed by her friends in beautiful Dyer's Bay where she resided for many years. Rebecca was predeceased by her loving husband Lyle, her parents Laurene and Irvin Shantz, brothers Earl and Lorne Shantz, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law; Patricia Shantz, Glen Clark, Art Baker, Frank and Edith Roe, Clare and Joy Miller, niece Marion Miller and nephew Jim Miller.     Passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 3, 2018 at Stratford General Hospital, Stratford. Born 88 years ago in Bloomingdale, Ontario a son of the late Irvine and Laurene (Snyder) Shantz. Fondly remembered by his children; Dale and Sandy, Lyle and Luanne, Tim and Heather, Glenn and Nancy and Joan Sketchley. Forever missed by his grandchildren; Tricia (Richard) Burrough, Penny Shantz (Kris Stinson), Wayne Lajoie, Emily (Charles) Malcolm, Joel (Marcia) Shantz, Stephanie (Andrew) McCallum, Jeffrey Zapalac, Kelly (Sam) Bell, Jeff Shantz, Amy (Paul) St. Laurent, Jody (Lisa) Buschlen, Leigh (Stephanie) Rankl and Lisa (Jamie) McCoy as well as by great-grandchildren. Survived by his sisters Dorothy (Don) Schwindt, Eva Clarke, Judy (Albert) Bolenbach and sisters-in-law Margaret Shantz, Ruth Shantz, Jean Shantz. Ken was predeceased by his first wife Patricia Shantz (Honderich) and by second wife Hazel Shantz (Wright), brothers Earl, Lorne, Willy, sister Rebecca (Lyle Miller), brother-in-law Glen Clarke and by his granddaughter Holly Lajoie.

    Ken was a member at Wilmot Mennonite Church. He loved to travel and spend time at his cottage in Huntsville. You would often see Ken out on his walks through Tavistock and greeting people on his way. Friends and relatives are invited to the Mark Jutzi Funeral Home, 291 Huron Street on Monday, January 8, 2018 from 4 - 7 p.m. A memorial service will take place on Tuesday, January 9, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Wilmot Mennonite Church with Pastor Susan Allison-Jones officiating. Cherished grandpa to Ryan, Aaron, Luke, Jordan, Bethany, Jeremy, Andrew, Jessica, Kevin, Nicholas, and Luke and great-grandpa to Bryan, Lily, Everett, and Makayla. Brother and brother-in-law to Becky Miller, Ken (Hazel), Dorothy (Don) Schwindt, Eva Clarke, Willard (Jean), Judy (Albert) Bollenbach, and the late Earl (Marg). He will also be remembered by his many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents, Irvin and Laurene Shantz. Lorne was a long time employee of K-W Blair Ready Mix (CBM) and an active lifetime member of Kitchener Gospel Temple. Lorne's family will receive relatives and friends at the Henry Walser Funeral Home , 507 Frederick St., Kitchener, 519-749-8467 on from Monday (today) from 7-9 p.m. and Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The Funeral Service for Lorne will be held at Kitchener Gospel Temple on Wednesday, March 3, 2010 at 1 p.m. Interment Memory Gardens Cemetery, Breslau.     SHANTZ, Willard (Willie) The corner of Brewery and Louisa Streets in Baden will never be the same. On Wednesday, May 31, 2012 Willie, a long time resident of Baden, died of a heart attack surrounded by his wife, children and grandchildren at St. Mary's Hospital, Kitchener. Beloved husband and best friend of Jean (Ruby) Shantz with whom he celebrated 53 years of marriage. Loving father of Lorrie Shantz (Ross Willard) of Kitchener, Colleen Shantz of Toronto, Scott Shantz (Lindsay Joseph) of New Hamburg and Steve (Marcia) Shantz of Don Mills. Much adored and proud grandfather of Kaitlyn (Ryan), Erik (Niki), Meghan, Chloe, Jonah, Celia, Helaina, Nyla, Madeline, Keenan and Emory. Missed by his brother Ken (Hazel) Shantz of New Hamburg, sisters Dorothy (Don) Schwindt of Kitchener, Eva Clarke of North Carolina, Judy (Albert) Bollenbach of Kitchener, sisters-in-law Ruth Shantz and Margaret Shantz both of Kitchener. Willie was predeceased by his parents Irvine and Laurene (Snider) Shantz, brothers Earl and Lorne, sister Rebecca Miller and brothers-in-law Lyle Miller and Glenn Clarke. Willie was a member of Wilmot Mennonite Church where he served many years as an usher and warm welcomer. He drove truck for over 45 years. He was proud of receiving the safe driving award each year and was a frequent Good Samaritan to drivers in need. Willie enjoyed reading and volunteering at the New Hamburg Thrift Centre. He enjoyed people of all ages and backgrounds, but had an especially big heart for children. Family and friends may call at the Mark Jutzi Funeral Home , 291 Huron Street, New Hamburg, tonight (Saturday) from 7-9 p.m. and again on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.. The funeral service will take place on Monday, June 4, 2012 at 11: 00 a.m. at Steinmann Mennonite Church, Baden, with Pastor David Rogalsky officiating. Cremation to follow. As expressions of sympathy donation may be made to Lung Association, Heart & Stroke Foundation of Ontario, or the Mennonite Central Committee.
