KINGWOOD. - Mrs. Catherine Jausi, who has been in falling health for some time, passed away at her home at Kingwood on Friday, Jan. 19th aged 75 years, 3 months and 11 days. The late Mrs. Jausi, who was formerly Catherine Albrecht, daughter of the late, Mr. and Mrs. George Albrecht, was born Oct. 8th, 1864, in Wilmot township. In the year 1888, on Jan. 24th, she was united in marriage to Mr. Jacob Jausi who predeceased her nearly two years ago. This union was blessed with five children, four of whom predeceased her. She leaves to mourn her departure, one son John on the homestead with whom she resided also two sisters, Mrs. Jacob Kipfer, of Tavistook and Mrs. Simon Kropf, of New Hamburg. The funeral was held on Sunday, the service at the house being conducted by Mr. Sam E. Leis, followed by a service at the Mapleview A. M. Church, third line Wellesley, conducted by Mr. Sam L. Schultz, Wellesley and Mr. Michael Zehr of Pidgeon, Mich., with interment in adjoining cemetery.

Milverton, July 13 - The death of Mrs. Barbara Kropf of Waterloo, widow of Simon Kropf, occurred at the home of her son-in-law and daughter, Mrs. and Mrs. Noah Roby of near Millbank, yesterday, at the age of 71 years. Mrs. Kropf had enjoyed the best of health until four weeks ago. A daughter of the late George Albrecht and Mary Hammar, she was born in Ellice Township, June 12, 1874. On Oct. 28, 1897, she married Simon Kropf and they took up residence on a farm near Topping where they lived until moving to New Hamburg in 1926. During the past two years Mrs. Kropf has lived in Waterloo. She was a member of the Poole Amish Mennonite Church. Her husband predeceased her in 1932 and one son, Joseph, in 1933, and she is survived by three sons, Ezra, Alvin and Albert of Waterloo, and six daughters, Mrs. William (Lavina) Pauli, New Hamburg; Mrs. Noah (Fanny) Ruby, Millbank; Mrs. Herman (Clara) Kreuger, Mrs. Milton (Katie) Koehler and Mrs. Edward (Barbara) Oakley of Kitchener, and Mrs. Ivan (Lena) Bender of Woodstock. One sister, Mrs. Jacob Kuepfer of Tavistock, 25 grandchildren and one great-grandchild also survive. Four brothers and three sisters predeceased her. The funeral will be held on Sunday with private service at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Ruby, near Millbank at 1: 30, followed by public service at Poole Amish Mennonite Church at 2: 15. Internment will be made in the adjoining cemetery. Rev. Christian Schultz of Poole will conduct the services.

LEBOLD, Mrs. Christian

WELLESLEY-Mrs. Christian Lebold, of Wellesley died at her home Sunday after a lengthy illness. She was 81.
Born in Ellice Township, she was the former Elizabeth Albright, a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Albright.
Mrs. Lebold had lived in Wellesley for 11 years and was a member of the Maple View Mennonite Church.

She was predeceased by her husband in 1961 and by two sons, three brothers and three sisters.

Surviving are five sons, Erven and Edward, both of Wellesley, John of New Hamburg, Alvin of Tavistock and Lloyd of Waterloo; six daughters, Mrs. Harvey (Mary Ann) Leis of Chesley, Mrs. Elmer (Barbara) Boshart of Haysville, Mrs. Kenneth (Clara) Roth of Elmira, Mrs. Levi (Laurene) Kuepfer of Newton, Mrs. Aaron (Ruth) Kuepfer of RR 2, Wellesley and Freda of Wellesley; two brothers, Christian and Menno, both of New Dundee; two sisters Mrs. Daniel R (Nancy) Erb of RR 1, Millbank and Mrs. Ezra (Mattie) Boshart of Milverton; 66 grandchildren and 49 great-grandchildren.

The body will be at the Futher Bros. Funeral Home until noon Wednesday when removal will be made to the Maple View Mennonite Church for service at 2:30 p.m. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Loving mother of Mildred and her husband Ivan Ropp of Wellesley, Marjorie and her husband Wesley Steckly of Milverton, Norma and her husband Merlin Lichty of Wellesley; daughter-in-law of Ionabell Boshart of Wellesley; sister-in-law of Florence (Mrs. Sam Boshart) of Milverton and Mary (Mrs. Menno Albrecht) of Wellesley.

Lovingly remembered by 14 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren.

Predeceased by her husband, Ezra, November 1, 1968; by one son, Ralph, 1983; one granddaughter, Carol Steckly, 1984; one great granddaughter, Ginger, 1982; five brothers and five sisters.

Visitation at the Futher Bros. funeral Home, 40 Henry St., Wellesley today (Monday) from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. At noon on Tuesday, Sept. 21, 1993 removal will be made to the Poole Mennonite Church for the service at 2: 30 p.m. Pastor David Rogalsky and Rev. Gerald Schwartzentruber will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

She was predeceased by her husband Ezra, November 1, 1968, one son, Ralph, in 1983, five brothers and five sisters. Burial will be in the Poole Mennonite Church cemetery.

Mr. Albrecht was predeceased by one son, Ray in 1964; five brothers and six sisters.

Mr. Albrecht was an active member of Rosebank Brethren in Christ Church, where he served for many years as Deacon and Sunday school teacher.

The family will receive friends at the Westmount Funeral Chapel, 1001 Ottawa St. S. (at Westmount Road), Kitchener, this evening (Mon- day) from 7-9 p.m. and Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. On Wednesday, Mr. Albrecht will be moved to Rosebank Brethren in Christ Church at noon, where service will be held at 2 p.m. Spring interment will be in Rosebank cemetery, Rev. Rick Silvestro and Rev. James Sider officiating.

WELLESLEY-Mrs. Daniel R. Erb, 82, of R.R. 1 Millbank, died Saturday at St. Mary's Hospital, Kitchener.

Born in North Easthope Township, May 9, 1897, she was the former Nancy Albrecht, a daughter of the late John H. Albrecht and former Mary Erb.

She was a member of Maple View Mennonite Church and a past president of the WMSA.

Surviving are one son, Delmar, of R.R. 1 Millbank; one daughter, Mrs. David (Norma) Rudy, of Kitchener; a half brother, Chris Albrecht, of New Hamburg; and a half sister Mrs. Ezra (Mattie) Boshart, of Wellesley; also six grandchildren and one great grandchild. She was predeceased by her husband, Daniel, Feb. 17, 1977, also two brothers, five half sisters and three half brothers.

Friends were received at the Futher Brothers funeral home, Wellesley, until noon Tuesday when removal was made to Maple View Mennonite Church for a service at 2:30 p.m. Rev. Alvin leis and Rev. Jacob Roes officiated. Burial was in the church cemetery.

As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to the Western Ontario Mennonite Mission Board.

BRUNNER-Mrs. Christian R. Lichty of Brunner, the former Luella Albrecht, died in the nursing home here Friday after a lengthy illness. She was 65.

A native of Brunner, she was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Albrecht and a stepdaughter of Mrs. Jacob Mattie Albrecht of Brunner.
Mrs. Lichty was a member of the Crosshill Mennonite Church.

Joseph Kropf

Following a week's illness with pneumonia, Mr. Joseph Kropf passed away at his home three miles west of New Hamburg last Thursday May 24th, at the age of 35 years, 9 months and 16 days. He appeared to have passed the crisis of the illness when a relapse set in to which he succumbed. His early death is deeply mourned and deep sympathy is felt for the bereaved family. The deceased was a son of the late Simon and Mrs. Kropf, of New Hamburg, and was born in Ellice township on August 8th, 1898, where he spent his boyhood days. He married Bena Bender, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Bender, of South Easthope, and after his marriage he moved onto the farm on the highway west of New Hamburg nine years ago, where he passed away. The deceased was a faithful member of the Amish-Mennonite Church and was highly esteemed in the community. He leaves in deep bereavement his sorrowing young widow and three small children, Floyd John, Delford Wayne and Bernice Elizabeth, besides his mother, Mrs. Simon Kropf, of New Hamburg, three brothers, Ezra, Alvin and Albert, all of this town and six sisters, Mrs. Wm. Pauli, New Hamburg, Mrs. Herman Krueger and Mrs. Milton Koehler, of Kitchener, Mrs. Noah Ruby, Millbank, Mrs. Ivan Bender, Wilmot, and Miss Barbara at her mother's home. The funeral was held on Sunday afternoon from his late home to the A-M Church on the 16th line in East Zorra, and was one of the largest ever held at that church. Relatives and friends were present from Kitchener, Hay Township, Millbank, Wellesley, New Hamburg and surrounding district. The service at the house was conducted by Rev. Menno Kipfer and Bishop Daniel Lebold and Rev. Jacob R. Bender officiated at the church and graveside. Internment was made in the adjoining cemetery. The pallbearers were: John Zehr, Enos Zehr, Ed. Litwiller, Aaron Kropf, Peter Bender and Clarence Bender.

BADEN-Elmer Lebold, 56, of RR 2, Baden, died Thursday at home after a heart attack.

Son of Mrs. Christian Lebold of Wellesley and the late Christian Lebold, he was born at Wellesley and lived in New Hamburg before moving to the farm 19 years ago. He was a member of Steinman Mennonite Church.

Surviving are his wife, the former Katie Leis whom he married in 1929; three sons, Ralph of London, Ont. and Harold and Clare at home; two daughters, Mrs. Delford (Grace) Zehr and Mrs. Clare (Marie) Jantzi of London; five brothers, Ervin of Baden, Edward of Wellesley, John of New Hamburg, Alvin of Hawkesville, Lloyd of Kitchener; six sisters, Mrs. Harvey (Mary Ann) Leis of Thessalon, Mrs. Elmer (Barbara) Boshart of Haysville, Mrs. Kenneth (Clara) Roth of Elmira, Freida of Wellesley, Mrs. Levi (Loreen) Kuepfer of Newton, Mrs. Aaron (Ruth) Kuepfer of RR 2, Wellesley, and five grandchildren. He was predeceased by a son and a brother.

The body will be at the Bruce J. Omand Funeral Home, New Hamburg, until noon Sunday. The service will be conducted at the Steinman Mennonite Church Sunday at 2:30 p.m. by Bishop Orland Gingerich. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

With grief and love, we announce the passing of Norma Rudy (nee Erb) on May 25, 2022, at Sunnyside Home, at the age of 92.
Norma was the wife of David Rudy for 65 years, father of Duane Rudy, Lynne Martin, and Gayle (Andrew) Lounsbury; grandmother of Jessica Lounsbury, Laura (Jake) MacTavish, Erin (Tyler) Babury, Ryan Martin, Sarah Martin, Amelia Leon-Rudy, Nathaniel Leon-Rudy; and sister-in-law to Dorothy Erb and Gwen Rudy.

Norma was predeceased by her loving husband, her parents Daniel and Nancy (Albrecht) Erb, her brother Delmar Erb, her in-laws Bob Rudy and Joan (Clare) Scheerer.

Norma was born September 8, 1929, on the family farm in Millbank, Ontario. She was an enthusiastic student at her one-room schoolhouse, winning first prize for artwork and public speaking at the local fair. She loved working in her family's sugar bush and accompanied her parents to sell goods at the Kitchener Market.

In 1949, Norma attended youth camp at Chesley Lake, where she met David Rudy. He stayed part of her world through her time at Rockway Mennonite School and Teacher's College in Stratford. She then worked as a teacher at King George School in Brantford and received her BA from the University of Western (in 1983).

After teacher's college, Norma married David and accepted a job at Westmount school in Kitchener. She resigned after 3 years per the rule for married teachers, and in 1960 joined David working at Fairview Mennonite Home. She delivered mail with baby Duane in tow, and from her visits with the residents got the idea to create programs to continue enriching their lives. From this idea grew arts and crafts programs, as well as the Fairview Newsletter, where she published interviews with the residents.

Subsequently she was asked to write and edit the Quarterly for the Ontario Association of Homes for the Aged, which she did for 13 years. This led to her receiving an award from the Association, as well as a citation from the ministry recognizing her contributions to human interest reporting. Additional writing projects included a History of Homes for the Aged in Ontario; a manual for providing support services to seniors; a memoir about Sister St. Michael; the History of Chesley Lake; many Christmas pageants; and a dramatic adaptation of "The Trail of the Conestoga".

In 1961, David built a cottage at Chesley Lake Camp. It was situated on a wood lot with trees, ferns and wildflowers and became a beloved retreat for the family. Norma was heavily involved in the camp's Bible School, and in revitalizing and maintaining a nature reserve on camp property.

Norma also enjoyed travelling, and took the family to both Canadian coasts, Venezuela, as well as an extended trip through the mid- and south-west United States, and many trips to Florida. These experiences were important shared experiences for the family. International travel with David included Japan, Hawaii, Europe, Australia, and New Zealand. Everywhere they went they struck up lasting friendships, and they loved sharing slideshows of their experiences.

It was important for her to make meaningful contributions to the lives of others. In her post-retirement years this included being very active in creating and maintaining the Stroke Recovery association. She never stopped advocating for stroke survivors and their families and creating a community to support them.

Her seriousness was leavened by her quirky sense of humour. Even at the end she would often surprise her PSWs with a wisecrack and laughter. She delighted in good food, the company of friends, and keeping up with her extended family. The depth of her care was evident in all she did. We'll miss her greatly.

The family would like to thank the staff at Sunnyside Home and Parkwood Seniors Community for their caring support.
Visitation will be held at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo on Monday, May 30, from 6pm - 8pm. The service will be held in the chapel of the funeral home on Tuesday, May 31, at 11:00 a.m., with a reception to follow. Interment will take place at First Mennonite Church Cemetery, Kitchener. At Mattawa General Hospital, on Monday, May 18, 1987, suddenly as the result of a heart attack, Harold Wilfred Kipfer, of 35 Rex Drive, Kitchener, aged 67 years.

He had been employed as a foreman for Electrohome Limited, until his retirement in 1984, having been with Electrohome for 46 years.

He was a member of the Quarter Century Club of Electrohome Limited and a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose.

Husband of the former Elizabeth Rodina; son of Serenus of New Hamburg; father of Paul of Kitchener; brother of Wilbur of Mattawa, Walter of Wilmot Centre, Edward, Lester and Ray, all of Kitchener, Jim of Tonawanda, N.Y., Esther (Mrs. Ernie Hahn) and Marie (Mrs. Stanley Gingerich) both of New Hamburg.

Five grandchildren also survive, Christopher, Michael, John, Anthony and Kelly.

Predeceased by his mother, this year and two brothers, Robert and Charles.

Friends may call at the Ratz-Bechtel Funeral Home, 621 King St. W., Kitchener, after 7 p.m. this evening (Wednesday) where the Loyal Order of the Moose will have a service on Thursday evening at 8 p.m.

Litwiller, Arthur, son of the late Ivan and Malinda (Kipfer) Litwiller, was born Nov. 1, 1922, at New Hamburg, Ont.; passed away at Sister's Hospital, Buffalo, N. Y., May 1, 1958; aged 35 y. 6 m. Death was the result of a truck accident. On Sept.1, 1946, he was married to Fanny Jantzi. He is survived by his wife, 5 children (Carl, Glen, Milford, Larry, and Nancy), his mother and stepfather (Jake Kipfer), one sister (Gertrude), and 2 stepbrothers (Clarence and Wallace). In his youth he accepted Christ as Saviour and united with the Alden Mennonite Church, of which he was a faithful, active member. He was serving as Sunday-school superintendent at the time of his death. Funeral services were held at the Alden Church in charge of David Beachy and Joe Miller. Interment in the County Line Cemetery.

She was a much loved teacher who formed many lasting friendships with her students. Barbara was also a member of the New Dundee Women's Institute, had volunteered at Nithview Home, New Hamburg and enjoyed supporting the New Hamburg Fall Fair.
