    PETTERSEN, Lillie Mae - At Golden Years Nursing Home, Cambridge, on Saturday, Aug. 10, 1991, Lillie Geiger, Beloved wife of the late Peter Pettersen, in her 84th year. Dear mother of Dorothy (Mrs. Harold Kinzie) and Walter, both of Cambridge; loving grandmother of three grandchildren. Predeceased by her parents, Rev. Amos and Nancy Geiger; four brothers and one sister. Mrs. Pettersen was born in Washington, Ont. And a resident of Cambridge the past 50 years. A member of the Women's Christian Temperance Union (Cambridge branch). A private family service was held (today) Monday, Aug. 12, 1991 at the Barthel Funeral Home, 566 Queeenston Rd., Cambridge with Rev. Rufus Jutzi officiating. Interment in Blair cemetery.

    GEIGER, Jean

    Jean passed away peacefully on January 16, 2014 at Fairview Mennonite Home. She was predeceased by her brother Willard and wife Ilah and her brother Jim and first wife Sylvia and second wife Sheila. Jean will be greatly missed by her nieces and nephews Jane and George Cordiner, Jerry Geiger, Joy Geiger and Charles Whitlock, Ruth Curran, Barbara and Kate Geiger. She will be fondly remembered by her great-nieces and nephews Daryl and Janelle Cordiner, Suzanne and Chad Curran and Anna Geiger-Whitlock. Born in Alberta in 1921 to Jerry Geiger and Rose (Thaler), Jean was brought to Ontario as a young child and spent her childhood in Kitchener and Breslau. Jean's career began as a bank teller at the Waterloo Trust in Kitchener and continued in Toronto. Jean spent ten wonderful years in India with the Mennonite Central Committee and the Missionary Church. She later became Dean of Women at Emmanuel Bible College and finished her career at Young's Jewelry store in Kitchener. Jean was an adventurer. She was on the last ship through the Suez Canal before the 1956 crisis. In India she took train trips from the southern tip to the Himalayan Mountains, rolling out her bedroll at night and sleeping with the other passengers. Closer to home, she took the train to the Rocky Mountains and a favourite destination was always Algonquin Park. Jean's gifts of laughter, story telling, letter writing, hospitality and generosity helped her develop and sustain many wonderful friendships around the world. Jean's service to others ranged from knitting dolls for charities to book keeping for church organizations to providing meals and support to many friends and family. Jean's last years were spent at Fairview Mennonite Home. Her family wishes to thank the Fairview team including administrators and front line care givers for their kindness and support. Cremation has occurred. A memorial service and reception will take place in the auditorium at Fairview Mennonite Home on Wednesday, January 29, 2014 at 2 p.m. If desired, memorial donations can be made to Women's Ministries of Bethany Missionary Church or the Canadian Arthritis Society and can be arranged through the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home , 171 King St. S., Waterloo, at www.erbgood.com or 519-745-8445. Jean will be missed by her family and many friends.

    GEIGER, James Vernon - Passed peacefully in his sleep into the presence of his Lord Thursday, June 2 in his 87th year. Loving father of daughter Jane (George) Cordiner, grandson Daryl (Janelle) Cordiner and son Gerald; loving brother to Jean Geiger. Predeceased by first wife Sylvia (nee Newman), second wife Sheila (nee Sutherland) and brother Willard. Jim will be missed by numerous brothers- and sisters- in-law and their children from the Newman and Sutherland families as well as nieces from the Geiger family. Jim was a retired school Superintendent, a long-time member of Westmount Presbyterian Church and Kiwanis in London, an active volunteer and a conscientious contributor to many charitable organizations. A memorial service will take place on Thursday, June 9, 1pm at Westmount Presbyterian Church, 521 Village Green Avenue. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Gideons would be appreciated.

    PETTERSEN, Walter J.: Peacefully at Cambridge Country Manor on Wednesday July 28, 1999. Walter J. Pettersen, in his 73rd year. Brother of Dorothy Kinzie and her husband Harold. Survived by three nephews, Mark, Ian and Peter. Predeceased by his parents, Lillie (1991) and Peter Pettersen (1965). Walter worked for Canadian Office and School Furniture and House of 46 years and was a member of the Church of the Nazarene. Friends will be received at the Bartel Funeral Home 566 Queenston Road, Cambridge Friday evening 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held Saturday July 31 at 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home with Rev. MacAskill officiating. Interment in Blair Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy donations to the Canadian Cancer Society gratefully appreciated by the family.

    Ann Louise Kinzie

    PRESTON, Ann Louise Kinzie, RR 3, Preston, died Thursday at South Waterloo Hospital. She was four months old. She was born Dec. 20 a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Kinzie. Mrs. Kinzie is the former Dorothy Pettersen. Surviving are her parents, three brothers, Mark, Ian and Peter, all at home. Grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Kinzie and Mrs. Lillie Petterseri, all of RR 3, Preston. The body will be at Barthel-Stager Funeral Home, from 7 o'clock tonight. Service will be conducted there, Friday, at 11 a.m. Interment will be in Hagey cemetery.
