Jantzi. - Sister Christina (Miller) Jantzi was born in Petersburg, Ont., June 8, 1858; died May 9, 1935 of a lingering heart disease, at the home of her daughter in Baden; aged 76 y. 11 m. 1 d. In October, 1877, she was united in marriage to Rudy B. Jantzi. To this union were born 5 children. She leaves her beloved aged companion, 1 daughter (Mrs. Noah G. Steinman), 4 grandsons, 1 granddaughter, and 9 great-grandchildren. Two sons (Michael and Rudy), 2 daughters (Mrs. Peter Nafziger, and one who died in infancy), 2 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren preceded her in death. Also surviving are 4 brothers, 1 sister, and a host of other relatives and friends. In her youth she joined the Wilmot Amish Mennonite Church, and remained a faithful member to the end. She was a kind, loving, and faithful companion, mother, grandmother, and friend. She was very much devoted to her grandchildren for whom her willing hands were always busy as long as health permitted. Funeral services were conducted at the Upper Street Amish Mennonite Church by Bros. Dan S. Jutzi and Christ Schultz. Burial in the adjoining cemetery. "As we loved her so we miss her; in our memory she is dear; Loved, remembered, thought of always, bring many a silent tear. Your loving smile and kindly ways are pleasant to recall; You always has a cheerful word, and were dearly loved by all." --- By her granddaughter.

BADEN, Sept. 17 - Mrs. Fred Beemer of Baden, died suddenly at her home last night. She was a resident of Baden for many years and a member of St. James's Lutheran Church. She was 66. Mrs. Beemer was born at Baden Oct. 20, 1885, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. August Miller. Her mother, Mrs. Christian Miller and husband survive. Also surviving are four sons, James, Waterloo; Clayton, Toronto; and Fred and John, Baden; two brothers, Harvey of Baden and Fred of Waterloo; and one sister, Mrs. Milton (Alice) Wagler, Baden. The body is at her home until Wednesday at 2 p.m., when removal will be made to St. James's Church for funeral at 3 p.m. Rev. Gerhart Wuerseher will officiate and interment will be in Fairmount Cemetery, Baden. Friends areasked to pay their respects prior to time of the funeral service.

David Miller - by Record Correspondent - Baden, Oct. 10 - David Miller, 56, died early today at his home in Baden after an illness of two years. He was born to Henry L. Miller, who survives him, and the late Mrs. Veronica Miller, at Baden on Dec. 27, 1887. A farmer and highway patrolman, he attended Steinman's Amish Mennonite Church, Baden. Surviving, in addition to his wife, the former Lydia Bast, and his father, are five sons, Grant of Baden, Earl of Ottawa, Harry of New Hamburg, Bernel of Nova Scotia, and Laverne at home, and four daughters, Mrs. Delton (Beatrice) Snyder of near-Baden, Mrs. Clayton (Mabel) Binkle, and Mrs. Bertram (Pearl) Diebel of Kitchener, and Mrs. Howard (Verna) Hesse of New Hamburg. One daughter predeceased him three years ago. Also surviving are three brothers, Henry, William and Lloyd of Baden, and seven sisters: Mrs. Godfrey Leiskau of Baden, Mrs. Edward Bechthold of Waterdown, Mrs. Edgar Snyder of Baden, Mrs. Victor Schaefer of Detroit, Mrs. Wilfred Doerr of Baden, and Misses Edna and Fannie Miller of Baden. The public funeral service will be held Thursday from his home at two o'clock. A church service will follow at Steinman A.M. Church at 2: 45, with burial in the adjoining cemetery, Rev. Surviving besides her husband are a son, Murray of Baden; a daughter, Mrs. Ted (Audrey) Nosal of Kitchener; a brother, Fred of Waterloo, and six grandchildren

She was predeceased by two brothers and a sister.

Funeral service was held Thursday at St. James Lutheran Church Baden, Rev. Ernst Felker officiating.

Burial was in Fairmount cemetery, Baden

MRS. ERVIN SCHACHT

Mrs. Ervin Schacht of 127 Erb St. W., Waterloo, died January 24 at her home after a Lengthy illness. She was 72.

The former Mary Miller, Mrs. Schacht was born at Baden and was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Miller. She had lived in the Twin Cities for the past 50 years and was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Waterloo.

Surviving are two brothers, Clarence and Edward, both of Waterloo, and two sisters, Mrs. Edward (Elizabeth) Lantz of Lake Orion, Mich., and Mrs. Lyall (Ida) Huston of Windsor. She was predeceased by her husband in 1949 and by two brothers and one sister.

The service was held at St. John's Church, Waterloo Saturday afternoon with Rev. A.L. Conrad officiating and burial followed in Mount Hope Cemetery, Waterloo.

Mrs. Simon Schwartzentruber

BADEN \endash Mrs. Simon Schwartzentruber, 53, of Baden died Sunday at the K-W Hospital.

Born at St. Agatha, Jan 1, 1909, she was the former Laura Jutzi, a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin Jutzi. She had been a resident of Baden for the past five years, and a member of the Baden Mennonite Church and president of the Women's Missionary and Service Auxiliary.

Surviving besides her husband are six sons, Arthur of [Bridge- ], Nyle of Baden, Clare of Vancouver, Elverne of Preston, and Simon Jr. and Wayne of Kitchener; six daughters, Mrs. Noah (Leona) Lichty of Monetteville, Mrs. Robert (Ellen) Messner of Guelph, Erma of Kitchener and Rita, Ruth and Arlene, all of Baden; two step brothers, Peter Steinman of Baden and David Steinman of Vineland, and 10 grandchildren.

She was predeceased by two sons and two step-sisters and one step-brother.

The body will be at the Futher-Omand Funeral Home, New Hamburg, until Wednesday noon. The funeral will be conducted at the Steinman Mennonite Church Wednesday at 3 p.m. Interment will be in the Geiger Mennonite Cemetery. Bishop Orland Gingerich and Rev. David Groh will officiate.

ROY NAFZIGER Passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his family, on Sunday, November 9, 2008. Roy was born 90 years ago on March 27, 1918 in Wilmot township, the son of the late Peter and Christina (Jantzi) Nafziger.

Beloved husband of Luella (Erb) Nafziger for 61 years. Dear father of Sheryl of Kitchener and Gail of Calgary, Alberta. Special uncle to Wendy O'Brien Ewara and her husband Ewara Monday Ewara and their children Emmanuel, Eyo and Emelia (Eme). Survived by two sisters, Vera Helmuth and Dora Wagler both of New Hamburg; sister-in-law, Edna O'Brien and her husband Gerald of Waterloo; and brother-in-law, Wilfred Erb and his wife Rita of Collingwood. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Roy was a lifetime member of St. Agatha Mennonite Church in Baden.

Predeceased by his parents; a sister in infancy; step-mother, Elizabeth (Jutzi) Nafziger; brother, John Nafziger and his wife Mildred; brothers- in-law, Lorne Wagler, Norman Helmuth, Clayton Erb and his wife Marjorie, Melvin Erb and his wife Edith, Vernon Erb, and Ray Erb and his wife Lucy.

Beatrice Miller Snyder was born in Wilmot Township and spent most of her life there.

She became adept at feeding large numbers of people when, as a young housewife, she was required to feed employees of her husband's transport business. Because of this expertise, she was often called on to supervise meal preparation for large groups of people at annual church conferences and other meetings.

In addition, she published a booklet of recipes and guidelines for the preparation of large scale meals and a book Pennsylvania German Customs and Cookery.

He had been active in various community endeavours and was an avid supporter of New Hamburg ball and hockey programs. Beloved husband of the former, Eunice E. He is survived by his loving wife and best friend, Rebecca Eileen (Shantz) Miller whom he married June 26, 1948. A lifelong resident of Baden, Clare was born 83 years ago, a son of the late Henry Miller and the former Ida Marie Rueffer. Clare had been an active member of St. James Lutheran Church, Baden. He had served overseas during the Second World War with the Royal Canadian Air Force and was a member and past-president of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 532, New Hamburg. Clare was employed as a professional engineer with Lear-Ziegler, Kitchener for 39 years prior to his retirement. Clare was a man of precision. A recipient of the prestigious Canadian Heritage Award, Clare's quick wit and love of history were evident in his volunteer work at Castle Kilbride and in the high regard he received throughout North America for his knowledge of antique tools and watches. Over a period of more than fifty years, Jerry worked in the poultry business building Bray Chicks of Hagersville and later raising hatching egg chickens and broiler chickens on the family farm. Over the years he participated in community service clubs such as the Kinsmen and the Lions, but he was most committed to the Knights of Columbus where he was a 4th Degree Knight. He was an enthusiastic supporter of the Roman Catholic Church and Separate school system tirelessly working to raise money for the new St. Mary's Church and School in Hagersville. He enjoyed his years on the Roman Catholic School Board, some of it as the Chairman. He sat on the Land-Use Planning Committee, a precursor to the current municipal zoning bodies. Among many other volunteer activities he was also well known as a driver for local cancer patients. Visitation for Jerry will be held at the Hyde & Mott Funeral Chapel, 60 Main Street South, Hagersville on Thursday, February 11th from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 p.m. with Vigil Prayers at 6: 30 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be held at St. Mary's Church on Friday, February 12th at 11: 00 a.m. with interment at St. Anne's Cemetery. NOSAL, Audrey Katherine (Wagler) - Audrey passed away peacefully, on Saturday, August 4, 2007. A daughter of the late Milton and Alice (Miller) Wagler, Audrey grew up in Baden, on Louisa Street, and was a very special sister to her "little brother" Murray, who predeceased her July 31, 1997. Audrey was a devoted wife to the late Ted Nosal of Kitchener, and mother to Tom Nosal and his wife Pat, of Nobleford, Alberta. Aunt Audrey will be especially remembered with much love and great memories by her sister-in-law Fran Wagler of Baden, and her nephews and nieces, Sandy and Wendy Wagler, Randy and Debby Wagler, Angela and Kevin Shantz, Sharon and Scott Horst, Melanie and Kirk Sabo, Jennifer and Brian Wallace, Tricia Wagler and John Doyle, and their families. Always thinking of others first, Audrey had many dear friends and neighbours through the years, as well as caring relatives with whom she shared many special times. Burial has taken place at Woodland Cemetery, Kitchener. Treasure her Lord in Heaven above, for here on earth she was dearly loved!
