NEW HAMBURG. - Born April 19, 1863, in Mornington Township, 20-year-old John B. Jantzi, died Sunday.
Twice married, his first wife died in 1921. His second, the former Fannie Breneman, survives, jaiso three sons, Noah on the family homestead at Wilmot Centre, David of Kitchener and William of Wellesley. There are three grandchildren.

PINE HILL. Dec 26 - Christian B. Jantzi, age 74. died suddenly at his home in Wilmot Centre on Sunday. Deceased was a pioneer resident of Wilmot township He was born and raised on the Jantzi homestead.
Surviving are his wife, nee Barbara Wagler, two sons, Aaron of Wellesley and Allan on the homestead, one daughter. Mrs C. E. Swartzentruber of Petersburg. 11 grandchildren and one great-grand-child. A brother, John of Wilmot Centre and one sister Mattle, predeceased him.
Funeral services will be held from his residence on Wednesday morning at 9:30 am to Steinman's Amish Mennonite church, Baden, with interment in Wilmot Centre Cemetery.

On Friday, Feb. 3, 1984, at the Bluewater Rest Home, Zurich, Mr. Noah Jantzi, aged 88 years. He was born in Wilmot township, and was formerly of the Baden area prior to moving to Zurich. He was a member of the Steinman Mennonite Church, RR 2, Baden.
Dear son of the late John B. Jantzi and the former Nancy Schultz; beloved husband of the former Magdalene (Mattie) Jutzi whom he married December 12, 1917; lovingly remembered by his son Laverne and his wife Myrtle of Levittown, Pa.; his daughter Wilma and her husband Albert Erb of RR 2, Zurich. Sadly missed by five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Predeceased by one daughter, Clarine, in infancy; two brothers, David and William; one sister, Clara (Mrs. Amos Schwartzentruber).
Funeral was held Feb. 6 at Steinman Mennonite Church with Rev. Fred Lichti and Rev. Clayton Kuepfer officiating, Interment in the church cemetery.

He was preceded in death by one daughter (Clarine). He was a member of Steinmann Mennonite Church, where funeral services were held on Feb. 6, in charge of Fred Lichti and Clayton Kuepfer; interment in Steinmann Mennonite Church cemetery.

William S. Jantzi of 97 William St., S., Wellesley died on Tuesday of last week at the age of 70.
Born in Wilmot Township, a son, of the late Mr. and Mrs. John B. Jantzi, he was a mechanic and carpenter for A. W. Jantzi and Sons machine shop for 24 years.
Mr. Jantzi was a member of the Maple View Mennonite Church, Wellesley.
Surviving besides his wife, the former Edith Leis, whom he married in Wellesley on June 23, 1931, is one brother, Noah of Baden.
He was predeceased by one brother and one sister.
Services were held Friday at Maple View Mennonite Church with burial taking place in the adjoining church cemetery.
Futher Funeral Home, Wellesley, was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Christian E. Schwartzentruber, 72, of R.R. 2, Petersburg, died suddenly Sunday, April 17, at her home.
The former Mary Yantzi, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Christian B. Yantzi, she was born on November 11, 1893, in Wilmot Township, where she had lived all her life. She was a member of Steinman Mennonite Church, Wilmot Township.
Surviving are her husband; three sons, Paul, of New Hamburg; Earl, of R.R. 2, Petersburg, and Frank, of Toronto; two daughters, Mrs. Roy (Ruth) Schlegel, of R.R. 2, Petersburg, and Mrs. Delton (Helen) Boshart, of R.R. 2, Petersburg; two brothers, Aaron, of Wellesley, and Allan, of Baden; 21 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter, Glenda Dawn Schlegel.
The funeral service was held Wednesday afternoon at Steinman Mennonite Church. Rev. Elmer Schwartzentruber and Rev. Elmer Grove officiated. Burial was in the church cemetery.

JANTZI, Aaron W. -- Passed away on Sunday, August 31, at St. Mary's Hospital, Kitchener.
He was born in Wilmot township 82 years ago. He was the founder of Wellesley brand apple butter and cider products. He also operated the Wellesley Lumber Mill from 1935 to 1944 and was the operator of the John Deere dealership in Wellesley.
He is survived by his wife, the former Sarah Leis and two sons, Lloyd and Ralph; two daughters, Mabel (Mrs. Andrew Steckly) and Norma (Mrs. Arthur Steckly), all of Wellesley; 13 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents, Christian B. Jantzi and the former Barbara Wagler; also by one brother and one sister.
The late Mr. Jantzi is resting at the Futher Bros. Funeral Home in Wellesley until noon on Wednesday when removal will be made to Maple View Mennonite Church for a memorial service 2 p.m. Rev. Elmer Schwartzentruber will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

He was a member of Steinman Mennonite Church, Route 2, Baden. Beloved husband of the former Fannie Zehr whom he married November 6, 1923; dear father of Grace (Mrs. George Holst) of Route 1, New Hamburg, Doris (Mrs. Rod Weber) of Route 2, Petersburg and Eva (Mrs. Milton Schwartzentruber) of London, Ont.; brother of Aaron W. Jantzi of Wellesley. Also survived by 15 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Predeceased by his parents Christian B. Jantzi and Barbara Wagler, and one sister, Mary (Mrs. C.E. Schwartzentruber). Visitation at the Omand-Jutzi Funeral Home, 291 Huron St., New Hamburg, after 7 p.m. this evening until noon on Sunday, , when removal will be made to Steinman Mennonite Church for funeral service at 2: 30 p.m. with Rev. SCHLEGEL, Ruth B. - Ruth Barbara Schlegel, 87, of Tavistock, passed away at her residence, on Monday, April 4, 2005. She was born in Wilmot Township, Waterloo County on February 4, 1918, a daughter of the late Christian E. Schwartzentruber and the former Mary Jantzi. She married LeRoy "Roy" Schlegel in Wilmot Township on June 3, 1936. He predeceased her on December 26, 1983. Mother was a beautiful hostess and was known for her generous hospitality and her cooking abilities in summer camps and nursing homes. Following their marriage she and Roy farmed in Wilmot Township until they founded the People Care Tavistock Nursing Center in 1968. She was a member of Wilmot Mennonite Church. She was lovingly cared for by Myrna Simon, Eva McLaren and Kathryn Fletcher and passed away peacefully in her home. She will be missed by family and friends, but fond memories of her will be treasured in our hearts forever. Ruth is survived by her children, Donald and wife Ann Schlegel who reside on the Schlegel Family Homestead at RR2, Petersburg; Mary and husband 0'Derald Gingerich of Baden, Robert and wife Myrna Schlegel of Dallas, Texas; grandchildren, Glenda and husband Bruce Comfort, Carolyn and husband Hughbee Brown, Heidi and husband Mark Tadeson, Wendy and husband Bruce Lantz, O. Duane and wife Janice Gingerich, Brent and wife Heather Gingerich, Kimberly and husband Justin Whitman, R. Grace peacefully went home to be with her Lord on Wednesday, November 3, 2021, at her residence, Nithview Community in New Hamburg. Grace is now reunited with her beloved husband George Holst, who passed away on January 13, 2009. She was born April 4, 1927, 94 years ago, in Wilmot Township and was the daughter of the late Allan W. Jantzi and Fannie (Zehr) Jantzi. Grace was the loving mother of Robert & Vera Holst, Bruce & Brenda Holst, Paul & Cindy Holst, Shirley & Steve Kennel, and Audrey & Paul Rooney. She was also the loving grandma of 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Dear sister of Eva Schwartzentruber and the late Milt Schwartzentruber, and sister of the late Doris Weber and her surviving husband Rod Weber. Grace is predeceased by her sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Margaret Holst in infancy, Viola Holst, Irene Holst, John & Beatrice Holst, Walter & Susan Holst, Clarence Holst, Harvey & Edith Holst, Delton Holst, Albert Holst, Luella & Wesley Sauder and Alfred Ropp. She is survived by Ellen Holst, Mae Holst and Joanna Ropp. She is lovingly remembered by many nieces, nephews and friends. We would like to thank the staff at Nithview for the wonderful care Grace and her family received. Grace was a long-time member of Steinmann Mennonite Church, enjoyed gardening, time spent with her family and volunteering at Nithview and New Hamburg Thrift Store. Beloved wife of Rod Weber to whom she has been married since May 29, 1954. Cherished and loving mother of Barb & Doug Root of Harrisonburg, Virginia; Julie Weber of Wilmot Centre, Ontario; Kay Weber of Kitchener, Ontario; Rodney & Julie Weber of Marietta, Georgia; Dawn & Ken Cullar of North Lima, Ohio; and Jerry & Lila Weber of Conestogo, Ontario. Born April 20, 1930, Doris has lived her life on the family farm in Wilmot Township with periods of time in Virginia, Ohio and Indiana for study and pastoral work. She was born to the 6th generation living on the farm and attended Steinmann Mennonite church in her early years. Doris began working in ministry in the early 1970s and in 1979 was the first ordained female minister in the Western Ontario Mennonite Conference. Over the course of her career, Doris served as Minister, Interim Minister, Conference Youth Pastor, and Hospital Chaplain. She and her husband Rod are members of Mannheim Mennonite Church. Doris has been a friend and mentor to many. A Living Memorial service took place on Saturday, September 4, 2021 at Mennheim Mennonite Church. A private graveside service will take place Saturday, September 11, 2021 at the Wilmot Centre Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, donations would be accepted to the Region of Waterloo Library - New Hamburg Branch or Wilmot Resource Centre and can be done on the funeral home website or by contacting the funeral home.
