Mrs. R. P. Scott

Mrs. Robert P. Scott, a former resident of Ayr, passed away in Guelph on Sunday aged 78 years. She had been ill about eight months.

Mrs. Scott, whose maiden name was Maggie Kyle, was born in Drumbo, being a daughter of Walter Kyle and Jane Cullen.

After her marriage she came to Ayr to reside, where she made many warm friends. While here she was a member of Knox United Church.

Upon the death of her husband, she returned to Drumbo for a few years, after which she went to Guelph to reside with her daughter: Mrs. William Clements (Hazel) and Mr. Clements.

Surviving are one son, Walter, in Maine; a daughter, Mrs. Clements, Guelph, and a brother, John C. Kyle, Ayr.

The funeral took place from Guelph on Tuesday afternoon, with interment being made in Ayr Cemetery. Many Ayr friends were in attendance.

Passing of John C. Kyle

John C. Kyle, a former long-time resident of Ayr, passed away at his home in Galt on Saturday evening in his 79th year. Mr. Kyle resided with his daughter, Miss Betty Kyle. Jack, as he was known to all his old friends here, resided in Ayr for some 42 years, making his home on Swan Street. Soon after the passing of his wife, the former Florence Whitson, some eight years ago, he went to live with his daughter in Galt.

Born in Drumbo

He was born in Drumbo, a son of Walter Kyle and Florence Cullen, and came to Ayr about 1912. For many years he carried on the business of painting and decorating, and for a time worked in the carpenter shop of the John Watson Mfg. Co.

Popular in Fraternal Circles

Mr. Kyle was popular in fraternal circles, being a member of both Ayr Masonic Lodge and Dolman Lodge, IOOF, Ayr. Formerly a member of Knox United Church, Ayr, he transferred his membership to St. Paul's United Church, Preston, upon leaving this village. He was one of the popular members of Ayr Bowling Club for many years. Surviving are two children, Miss Betty Kyle, Galt, and David C. Kyle, Preston; also one granddaughter, Miss Nancy Kyle.

The Funeral

The funeral took place from the W. O. Ball Funeral Parlor on Tuesday, the service being conducted by Rev. A. L Waters of Preston. Interment was made in Ayr Cemetery. Pallbearers were: Erb Clark, James C. Swan, Arthur Underwood, James D. Patterson, Reid Leonard and Charles A. Bain.

WALTER D. KYLE. The death occurred at his home, 76 Gordon street this morning, after a short illness, of Walter D. Kyle. Mr. Kyle had been, for the past 15 years, a valued employee of the Cockshutt Plow Co. He is survived by his widow, one daughter, and four sons, Mrs. Frank Delrog, Galt, Walter J. Kyle, Detroit, Chester, Robert and Douglas of this city, also two brothers, George Kyle of Drumbo and John Kyle of Ayr, and one sister, Mrs. W. Scott, Ayr. The funeral will be held from the residence on Friday with interment in the family plot at Paris, Ont.

WALTER D. KYLE.

The funeral of the late Walter D. Kyle took place Friday afternoon from the residence, 76 Gordon street, Rev. A. G. Doner officiating. There were many beautiful floral tributes and the funeral was large- ly attended by relatives, shop-mates and friends. The pallbearers were: Robert Miller, John Houison, William Gregory, Alex. McDonald, Robert Edwards and James Collins. Interment was in the family plot at the Paris cemetery.

Walter Andrew Scott

Walter Andrew Scott of King Street, Preston passed away at his residence on Friday, September 24, 1982. He was in his 74th year. Born and raised in Ayr he was a son of Robert Scott and Margaret (Maggie) Kyle. He had a very colourful career. Among other things, he was with the Royal Air Force Ferry Command flying planes from Canada to Britain during World War II. For many years he worked for a gas conversion company in Portland, Maine. In addition he prospected world-wide including the United States and Northern Ontario. He recently retired. Survived by one sister Mrs. Bill (Hazel) Clements of Galt. Funeral service was held at the T. Little and Son Funeral Home, Cambridge on Tuesday, September 28th. Cremation followed. Interment in Ayr Cemetery.

David Cullen Kyle of 515 Fangs Drive, Preston. passed away at Cambridge Memorial Hospital, on Monday. February 17th. He was 76. Born in Ayr on August 7, 1915, he was a son of the late John C. Kyle and Florence Whitson. Mr. Kyle received his education in Ayr. worked at the John Watson factory as a painter, and was a fine softball player with the old Ayr Vics teams. Mr. Kyle served with the army during World War II. Upon his return he moved to Preston and was self employeed as an egg and poultry dealer. He retired eleven years ago. He was a member of St. Paul's United Church. Preston: member of the I 0.0.F. Lodge in Ayr. and later transferred to Cambridge No 188 when Ayr Lodge closed: was very active in events at Fairview Mennonite Centre. Preston. Surviving are his wile, the former Elizabeth Frosch: a daughter Mrs. Ed (Nancy) Laverty of Peterborough: grandsons Justin and Kyle. an a sister Betty Kyle Resting at the Barthel Funeral Home Preston today (Wed ) from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m . Miss Kyle was born in Ayr and had been a lifelong resident of the area. She was a retired nurse and very active in the Fairview Centre Community. Known as a generous, caring person who didn't hesitate to give her opinion of things, she also enjoyed knitting, the craft Sale and outings with her friends. She was always on the go. Friends will be received at Barthel Funeral Home, 566 Queenston Rd., Cambridge, Thursday 7-8: 30 p.m. The Funeral and Committal Service will be conducted at Fairview Centre Auditorium, 515 Langs Dr., Cambridge, Friday. Mrs. A.G. Brohman - Death Claims Highly Esteemed Ayr Lady on Sunday

Although not unexpected, the demise of Mrs. A.G. Brohman on Sunday morning came as a distinct shock to the residents of this community. Taken with a fatal malady last fall, an operation temporarily improved her condition, but during the past month or more she rapidly lost ground, terminating in her death on Sunday.

Deceased, whose maiden name was Maude Kyle, was a lady of much talent and a most pleasing personality. She was highly esteemed by a host of friends and took an active part in the Women's Institute, Ladies' Bowling Club and the choir and various women's organizations of Knox United Church of which she was a member. She was born in Ayr 45 years ago and spent all of her lifetime in this village.

The loss of her husband about a year ago and the suffering she endured during the long months of her illness were borne by Mrs. Brohman with much courage. Receiving her friends with her old-time cheerfulness, she retained interest in the affairs of the village until the end.

Besides her sorrowing mother, she is survived by one son, Edward, of the O.A.C., Guelph, both of whom will have the sympathy of the entire community in their sad bereavement.

The Funeral

Many sorrowing friends and relatives attended the funeral, which took place to Ayr Cemetery on Tuesday afternoon. The Rev. J.W. Currie had charge of the services, while a quartette, comprising Mrs. J.M. Hunt, Mrs. G.A. Graham, A.L. Easton and A.G. Watson, sang the selection, "Safe in the Arms of Jesus." Many beautiful floral tributes bore silent testimony to the high esteem in which deceased was held. The pallbearers were: G.H. Lawrence, J.C. Swan, M.A. Cochrane, J.C. Kyle, L.R. Gifford, Toronto, and Alex Brohman, Kitchener. Friends and relatives were present from Buffalo, Toronto, Kitchener, Brantford, Paris, Winterbourne, Milton? and Guelph.
