    Peacefully at his residence at the Fairview Mennonite Retirement Home, on Tuesday, September 30, 1997, in his 94th year. Beloved husband of the late Phyllis Charlton (1987). Dear friend of Erma E. Snyder of Cambridge. Dear father of Wallace and his wife Laurine Ziegler of Cambridge and Klahernce (Kaye) and his wife Valma Ziegler of Gloucester. Cherished grandfather of Ann and her husband Alan Van Norman of Cambridge, Jane and her husband Dallas La Barre of Corunna, Scott and his wife Pamela Ziegler of Leduc, Alberta, Karen Thompson, Sandra Ziegler and Patricia and her husband Pete Cholette all of Gloucester and loved by thirteen great grandchildren. Brother of Daniel Evert Ziegler and Mallard Charles and his wife Anne Ziegler all of Cambridge and Wade Russell Ziegler of London and predeceased by seven brothers and three sisters. In his early years, Milton Ziegler was employed by the Hespeler Furniture Company and in 1929 he came to Galt and was then employed by the Gardiner Sash and Door Factory and then joined Sheldon Engineering in 1951 from where he retired. Served with the RCAF during the Second World War and a fifty year member of the RCL # 121 - Galt Branch. He resided at the Fairview Mennonite Retirement Home, for the past nineteen years, was an adherent of the Mennonite Church and a founding member of the Galt Sportsman Club. Friends will be received at Little's Funeral Home, 223 Main Street East, Cambridge, on Thursday, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Visitation will then continue at Fairview Mennonite Auditorium, Concession Road at Langs Drive, Cambridge on Friday morning, from 10: 00 a.m. Funeral and Committal Service, will be conducted at the Fairview Auditorium, Friday, October 3, 1997, at 11: 00 a.m., with Pastor Paul Martin officiating. Interment Mount View Cemetery, on Friday, at 2: 00 p.m.

    ZIEGLER, Daniel Evert

    A resident of St. Luke's Place Apartments, Cambridge, he passed away peacefully, at St. Luke's Place on Wednesday, February 17, 1999, in his 88th year. Beloved husband of the late Mona Fortier (1991). Predeceased by his parents, Everett Daniel and Lavina Ziegler and by 8 brothers and 3 sisters. He is survived by his brother, Wade of London, Ontario, his brother Mallard Charles Ziegler and his wife Anne of Cambridge (St. Luke's Place). The are 17 nieces and nephews and their spouses surviving along with these are their many children and grandchildren. To us all, he was always are uncle “Ev” of “Uncle Ev” and “Aunt Mona”. It was they that hosted many large "Ziegler" reunions. To the family and long-ago residents of Hespeler, he was known as "Ev". To his buddies he was "Zig". To his business and social friends and acquaintances he was "Dan". He served in the Canadian Armed Forces C.A.S.F., from June 1940 until discharge in 1945. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Hespeler Branch #272, a former member of the Galt Lions Club. He was Past Secretary Treasurer of the Cambridge-North Rotary Club and Past Grand Noble of the Hespeler Odd Fellows Lodge #321. In the community he was perhaps best known in his capacity of "License Issuer" for the Cambridge District, a position he held from, 1948 to 1983. He was an adherent of Central Presbyterian Church, Galt. He was an avid fisherman, a founding executive member of the Galt Sportsman's Club, a collector of antiques and automobile license plates. He will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by us all. Friends will be received at the Nelson Funeral Home, 1766 Franklin Blvd., Cambridge, on Friday, February 19, from 2: 00 to 4: 00 and 7: 00 to 9: 00 p.m. Funeral and committal service will be held at the home, at 11: 00 a.m., Saturday, February 20, with Reverend Herb Hartig officiating.

    Passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, at Cambridge Memorial Hospital, in his 79th year.Beloved husband for 55 years of Laurine Spain. Dear father of Ann and Alan Van Norman of Cambridge, Jane and Dallas LaBarre of Corunna, ON, Scott and Michele of Leduc, AB and extended father to Stuart and Lisa Brown. Lovingly remembered by grandchildren, Sarah and Jason, Tom, Andrea and John, Drew, Ashley, Andrew, Jared, Brie, Alysia, Tim, Spencer and Bennett. Adopted grandpa to many special children, Alex, Katie, MacKenzie and Chase of Blair. Survived by brother Klahrence and his wife Vairna of Ottawa and sister-in-law Izzy Spain of Cambridge. Also survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews.Predeceased by his parents, Milton and Phyllis Ziegler and brother-in-law, Bill Spain.Wally was born in Galt and had been a lifelong resident of the area. He was a member of Trillium United Church and was a retired teacher/counsellor from G.C.I.As was Wally's wishes cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service to honour this tremendous man will be held at Trillium United Church, 450 King Street East, Cambridge (Preston) on Sunday, March 4, 2007 at 2: 30 p.m. with Rev. Mark Rutledge and William Houghton officiating.Our partner, father and friend was a "measure twice, cut once" kind of man. This philosophy of caring is how he helped each and every soul that entered his life. If you were lucky enough to have been touched by our dad you would have been shown quiet advise, unlimited energy and a very heartfelt interest in human relationships. The master craftsman side of this great man provided thousands of original pieces in wood and leather. There wasn't anything he couldn't make or fix-even better than the original.The family would like to acknowledge the outstanding care given to our father during his final months. Thank you to Dr. Tibbo, Carol and Susan, Cambridge Medical Daycare, Dr. Chouihard, Dr. Gowing, Dr. Macie, Dr. Sim and Dr. Frape.
