KOCH, Oliver S. (1912-2008) - After a long and full life, Oliver died peacefully, on Tuesday, January 29, 2008, at Caressant Care, Fergus and is at Home in the presence of his Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. His family takes great comfort in the knowledge that he is now enjoying the beauties of Heaven and being able to see his Saviour face-to-face. Oliver was predeceased by his beloved wife, Violet (Biehn) Koch in 2002, shortly after celebrating 62 years of marriage. He will be missed by his family, Glen and Phoebe Koch of Elmira and Marlene and Murray Losch of Alma. His five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, Clark and Sheri Koch, Chloe and Carmen, Laura and Calvin Martin, Jamie, Zachary and Tommie, Heidi and Gerald Martin, Tirzah and Keturah, Juanita and Tim Finlan, Elijah and Emmett, Dean Losch and friend Cassie carry many fond memories of times spent with Grandpa. Brother of Roy Koch of Indiana, Gladys Koch of Elmira and sister-in-law, Alice Koch of New Hamburg. Predeceased by his parents, Charlie and Minerva (Swartz) Koch; wife, Violet; daughter, Beverly; son, Delmar; five brothers, Stanley, Lester, Orton, Phares, Charles; two sisters, Mabel Kufske, Vera Snyder; two brothers-in-law, Herb (Mabel) Kufske, Nelson (Vera) Snyder; six sisters-in-law, Ruth (Stanley) Koch, Irene (Orton) Koch, Reta and Linda (Phares) Koch, Dorothy (Nelson) Snyder, Wilma (Charles) Koch. Oliver and his wife Violet lived at Conestogo for 62 years before he moved to St. Jacobs and then to Fergus. He enjoyed interacting with people and was very involved in the work of his church. For many years he taught Sunday School classes from youth to adult. He also served many years on both public and private school boards. He especially had a heart for mission work among our native Indians in the North and was always available to help in any way he could. Dad and Mom together had an extended "family" in supporting children through World Vision. Dad very much enjoyed children and many will remember him for the entertainment he provided on their rides to and from school. He was also involved in sales both at Snyder Milling in Waterloo and B&M Farm Equipment, Elmira. Dad was a storehouse of quips and weather-related sayings. Farmers Almanac has now lost their competition! Oliver's family will welcome friends and relatives at the Dreisinger Funeral Home , Elmira on Thursday, January 31, 2008 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. On Friday at 11 a.m. transfer will be made to Countryside Mennonite Fellowship, Hawkesville, for funeral service at 1: 30 p.m. with Ron Shantz officiating, followed by interment in St. Jacobs Mennonite Cemetery. In his memory, donations to Christian Aid Ministries or World Vision would be appreciated by the family as expressions of sympathy. We give our loved one back to God, and just as He first gave him to us and did not lose him in the giving, so we have not lost him in returning him to Him... for life is eternal and love is immortal.
