    While working about one of his horses last week, Mr. Wm. Schildroth received a terrible kick from the brute right on the forehead inflicting an ugly gash. Mr. Schildroth had the wound dressed and is doing very well.

    SCHILDROTH, Lester John - November 1, 1915 to November 7, 2006. Died peacefully, at St. Mary's Hospital, Kitchener, at the age of 91. Lester was a popular, outgoing and generous person. He was noted for his sense of humour, his loyalty to people and his commitment to his family, church and community. Lester married Margaret Mae Binkle in 1941, and they were devoted to one another for 65 years, until the time of his death. He is also survived by his sister. Eileen (Lorne) Schweitzer; brother. Donald (Collette) of Victoria, B. C. ; daughter, Leslie (Brian) Gould; son, Stephen and daughter-in-law, Lynn Rubinstein, as well as sisters-in-law, Lea Binkle (nee Charleston) and Evelyn Brown (nee Schweitzer). Lester is the beloved grandfather of David (Melissa) Gould, Jennifer (David) Stubbs (nee Gould) and Deborah, Andrew and Eric Schildroth. He is predeceased by his father, William Christian Schildroth; mother, Alberta May (nee Hesse); sister, Winnifred Kropp and son, John William Schildroth, partner of Carolyn Epp. Born in 1915 on a farm in North Easthope Township in Perth County, Lester spent his early years on the farm and had his primary education in New Hamburg. His family moved to Kitchener when he was twelve. Lester attended Kitchener and Waterloo Collegiate Institute where he graduated with a Diploma in Accountancy in 1932. In 1934, Lester took a position at Brodey-Draimin Furriers in downtown Kitchener. He started his employment delivering fur coats on a bicycle, and over the course of time became a senior salesman. He continued working for Brodey-Draimin for 55 years, until his retirement in 1989. During the Second World War, Lester served as a member of the 24th Field Ambulance Reserve based in Kitchener. A lifetime active member of Zion United Church, Lester served in many capacities. Lester acted as an Elder, served on the Presbytery Council and was a member of the Finance Committee, as well as many other volunteer capacities. For over 40 years, Lester was an enthusiastic member of the Kitchener-Waterloo Sales and Advertising Club. He served on many committees and was a director of the Club in the 1960s. Long before anyone used the term "environment", Lester taught his children and grandchildren to care for the planet Earth. He loved camping, hiking and fishing throughout Southern Ontario. He always had deep sympathy and compassion for those who were less fortunate and was a generous contributor of his time and financial resources for the benefit of others in need. Lester participated in numerous charitable activities including fund-raising for the K-W Federated Appeal (now the United Way). Lester was an exceptional husband, father and grandfather. He will be sorely missed by his family as well as many others in the community. Lester's family will receive relatives and friends from 12: 30 - 1: 15 p. m. on Saturday, November 11, 2006 at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick St. , Kitchener, 519-749-8467.     EILEEN SCHWEITZER (nee: Schildroth) 1918 - 2007 Passed away peacefully at Sunnyside Home on Thursday, November 15, 2007 in her 90th year. She was born on August 10, 1918 on a farm outside of New Hamburg to William and Alberta Schildroth (Hesse) and had many fond memories of going to public school and Sunday school in New Hamburg. Her family later moved to Kitchener where she eventually worked at Smiles? n Chuckles.

    Eileen married Lorne Schweitzer in 1940 (predeceased March 25, 1982) and has two daughters, Paula (Bruce) Scheifele and Wendy Payne. She always put others first in her life and was always there to help anyone who needed her. She is especially remembered with great affection by her three grandsons, Steven, Scott, and Mark Scheifele with whom she developed a wonderful rapport. She will also be missed by her adopted daughter Joy Becker, her brother Donald and his wife Collette of Vancouver, sister-in-law Mae Schildroth and great grandchildren Brooke and Eric (Charlotte Bruder), Jacob, Sarah and Joseph (Stephanie Wunder) and Ella, Jack and Tessa (Kelly Schroeder).

    Predeceased by her sister Winnifred Kropp (Powell/Schildroth) and her brother Lester Schildroth. She was a member of Zion United Church and for many years a volunteer with the Grand River Hospital follow-up Cancer Clinic and the Red Cross Blood Donor Clinic. She also worked at the Nurses Residence of K-W Hospital as receptionist and house mother for the nurses.

    The family wishes to thank Judy and the wonderful staff of Castle Kilbride at Sunnyside Home where she received the very best care for the past five years.

    Friends are invited to share their memories of Eileen with her family during visitation at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King Street South, Waterloo, on Sunday, November 18, 2007 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The funeral service will be held in the chapel of the funeral home on Monday, November 19 at 2:00 pm with Rene Alexander, Chaplain of Sunnyside Home officiating, followed by a reception in the Fireside Reception Room of the funeral home. Cremation will follow and a private family interment will take place in Mount Hope Cemetery, Waterloo.

    SCHILDROTH, Donald 1927 - 2013 Passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 21, 2013 at Victoria General Hospital in Victoria, BC, after a brief illness. Loving father of Vicky Schildroth and Lisa (David) Stacey. Grandfather of Andrew Stacey and William Stacey. Predeceased by his beloved wife Collette (2008), a loss from which he never fully recovered. He also greatly missed his lifelong friend, Lloyd Totzke. Predeceased by his parents Alberta and William Schildroth, sisters Winnifred Kropp and Eileen Schweitzer, brother Lester Schildroth, and nephew John Schildroth. Survived by many other relatives and good friends who will mourn his passing. Don was a lifelong lover of the arts. He was happiest when he was painting, reading, gardening, listening to CBC Radio 2, or sharing his love of history in a good conversation. Cherish your memories of Don because that is how he will live on in all of us. As expressions of sympathy, please consider a donation to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
