GASCHO. - Catherine Lichti was born in Wellesley, Ont., Mar. 21, 1864; died at her home near Kingwood, Ont., Jan. 22, 1930; aged 65 y. 10 m. 1 d. On Mar. 4, 1890, she was united in marriage to John Gascho. To this union were born 6 children, one of whom preceded her in death. She is survived by her husband, 4 sons, 1 daughter, 10 grandchildren, 4 sisters, 4 brothers, and many other relatives and friends. In her early youth she accepted Christ as her Savior, united with the A. M. Church, and remained faithful to the end. She had been in failing health for some time, but her death came as a shock to her family as she passed away in her sleep. Funeral services were held Jan. 24 at the home and at the Cedar Grove A. M. Church by Bros. John Gerber and Jacob Lichti.

LICHTI, Menno J. 1961

Menno J. Lichti, 95, died on Thursday, May 4^th, at the house of his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Kuepfer, of Millbank. He was the son of the late Joseph Lichti and Catherine Jantzi, and was born in Wellesley Township, on September 30, 1865. He had farmed in the Wellesley and Mornington district and was of the Amish Mennonite faith. He is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Jacob Kuepfer, of Millbank; two grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. His wife, the former, Elizabeth Jantzi, whom he married on June 8, 1890, died on November 4^th, 1949. Four brothers, Chris, David, Rudy and Mose and five sisters, Mrs. Nicholas (Fannie) Jantzi, Mrs. John (Catherine) Gascho, Mrs. Dan (Nancy) Schmidt, Mrs. Jacob (Barbara) Erb, and Mrs. Solomon (Mary) Leis, also predeceased him. The body rested at the Futher funeral home, Wellesley, until Friday when removal was made to the home of his son-in-law and daughter, at Millbank, where a funeral service was conducted on Sunday at 2:00 p.m. by Bishop Amos Albrecht. Burial was made in the seventh line Amish Mennonite cemetery.

WELLESLEY, Nov. 30. - The death of David J. Lichty, 66, occurred suddenly at his home on the Third Line, Wellesley township, the cause of death being heart failure.

The deceased, who was a retired farmer and a member of Maple View Amish Mennonite church, was a son of the late Joseph B. Lichty and Catherine Jantzi.

He is survived by his wife, and one son and two daughters, Sam Lichty, Wellesley township, Mrs. Mahlon Schultz and Mrs. Irvin Zehr. both of Topping. There are eight grandchildren. There also survive two brothers. Menno Lichty, Millbank, and Moses Lichty, Pavilion. N.Y., and three sisters. Mrs. Dan Schmidt, Mrs. Jacob Erb and Mrs. Solomon Leis, all of Wellesley.

The funeral will be held at 9.30 a.m. tomorrow from the home to Maple View Amish Mennonite church. Third Line, and the adjoining cemetery with Rev. Dan Lebhold officiating.

The death of Ephraim Lichty occurred at his home at Wetzell, Mich., on Dec. 20th, last after an illness of about three months duration, in his 30th year. He was well known in this neighborhood, having lived with his parents on the farm, just west of the village, and later with his uncle, Mr. John B. Lichty. He was a son-in-law of Mr. Chas. Knapp, of Lisbon.
The death of Ephraim Lichty, in Michigan, which occurred just before Christmas, cast a gloom of sorrow over this village, where he was well known, being a son-in- law of Mr. Chas Knapp.

Wellesley - A well-known citizen of this village, George Lichty, 59, died Tuesday following a long illness. Mr. Lichty was born on a farm in Wellesley township, March 11, 1880, and had lived in this district all his life. He was a contractor for many years. A member of St. Paul's Missouri Lutheran church, he officiated as secretary of the church board. He is survived by his wife, the former Bertha Underwood, two sons, Austin of Preston and Lloyd at home, one daughter, Esther at home, two brothers, Theodore and Jonathan, both of Wellesley and two sisters, Mrs. Harry Faber and Mrs. George Faber of Tavistock. One brother, Levi, predeceased him. A private funeral service for George Lichty, who died Tuesday, will be held at the home Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock to be followed by a public service at St. Paul's Missouri Lutheran Church. The services will be conducted by Rev. C. A. Kramer. Burial will be made in the cemetery adjoining the church.

The death of Mrs. Geo. Huras, whose illness was reported in last week's Leaf, occurred on Saturday morning last from dysentery. Deceased was well and favorably known in this community, being a daughter of Mr. Jobst Neumeister, of Poole. During the past year she has not been in robust health but it was not thought to be anything serious until a couple of weeks ago, when she was forced to call in medical attendance. Deceased was in her 32nd year and leaves to mourn her loss a husband and a little daughter of seven years old. The funeral took place Tuesday afternoon and was very largely attended, the remains being laid to rest in the Missouri Lutheran cemetery, Rev. Mr. Battenberg, pastor of the church, conducting the services.

WELLESLEY - Julius Neumeister, 78, of RR 1, Milverton, died yesterday at the K-W Hospital. Born at RR 2, Milverton, he had farmed in the area all his life. He was a member of Lisbon Evangelical United Brethren Church.
Mr. Neumeister was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Jobst Neumeister. His wife, the former Adeline Schmidt, predeceased him.
He is survived by one son, Milton, of RR 1, Milverton, one daughter, Mrs. Cecil (Viola) Wilhelm of RR 2, Petersburg; two brothers, George of Kitchener and Louis of RR 1, Linwood; three sisters, Mrs. Bertha Schmidt of Milverton, Mrs. Annie Shader and Mrs. Louise Pfeffer, both of Kitchener, and eight grandchildren.
The body will be at the Futher Funeral Home, Wellesley, until 7 p.m. tonight when removal will be made to RR 1, Milverton, where a short service will be conducted Saturday at 1:30 p.m. Rev. T.M. David L. Gascho, 75, died Saturday following a brief illness in the Brunner Rest Home at Brunner.

He was a son of the late John Gascho and Catherine Lichty.

Surviving are his wife, the former Louise Brunk; a brother John L. Gascho and a sister, Mrs. Noah Jantzi, both of Wellesley; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers.

The body rested at the Heubner Funeral Home in Milverton until noon Tuesday when removal was made to Riverdale Mennonite Church at Millbank for funeral service at 2: 30 p.m. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

Lichty.- Solomon, son of Rudolph and Rachael (Schrag) Lichty, was born in Wellesley Twp., Ont., May 23, 1900; died at Stratford General Hospital, Sept. 30, 1977; aged 77 y. On Dec. 8, 1921, he was married to Emma Jantzi, who survives. Also surviving are 5 sons (Ervin, Lorne, Elmer, Lloyd, and Aaron), one daughter (Leona-Mrs. Tom Mason), 21 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, one brother (Moses), and 2 sisters (Nancy Bellar and Mary-Mrs. Chris Gerber). He was preceded in death by one son (David), one brother (Aaron), and one sister (Susan-Mrs. Dan Gerber). He was a member of Maple View Church, where funeral services were held, in charge of Alvin Leis, and Jacob Roes; interment in adjoining cemetery.

Lichti-Samuel S., son of the late David and Barbara (Schultz) Lichti, was born near Wellesley, Ont., May 13, 1895; died April 1, 1937; aged 41 y. 10 m. 18 d. He lived all his life on the farm where he was born. At the age of 16 he accepted Christ as his personal Savior and united with the Amish Mennonite Church, remaining faithful until death. He was afflicted with a rheumatic heart, his end coming suddenly while sitting in a chair. His father also passed away very unexpectedly last November. On Jan. 17, 1923, he was united in holy matrimony with Sister Lucinda Jantzi of Twining, Mich. To this union were born 5 children, 2 having preceded him in infancy. Surviving are his aged mother, his sorrowing companion, 1 son (Orval), 2 daughters (Elsie and Esther), 2 sisters (Mrs. Mahlon Schultz and Mrs. Irvin Zehr, both of Milverton, Ont.). Funeral services were held April 4 at Maple View Church, in charge of Peter Nafziger, Daniel Lebold and Moses 0. Jantzi. Burial in adjoining cemetery.

She was a member of Poole Mennonite Church, Poole, where she had been an active member of the WMSC. Elizabeth was an active participant in the Millwood Manor activities. She enjoyed piecing quilt tops and quilting as her hobbies.

Beloved wife of Mahlon Schultz who predeceased her March 22, 1996. Dear mother of Reta and her husband Daniel Schumm, Mary and her husband Stanley Ropp, all of Tavistock, Herbert and his wife Shirley of New Hamburg. Alvin and his wife Irene, David and his wife Marilyn, all of Milverton, Katherine and her husband Don Snyder of Waterloo, Phyllis and her husband Ron Gropp of Wellesley. Sadly missed by 21 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren. Also remembered by a brother-in-law, Ervin S. Zehr of Tavistock.
Elizabeth was predeceased by a grandson, Charles Herbert; two brothers, Samuel and one in infancy and two sisters, Katie Lichti and Emma Zehr.

Family and friends may call at Poole Mennonite Church, Poole, today (Saturday) from 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will take place at Poole Mennonite Church on Sunday, April 7, 1996 at 3 p.m., with Pastor David Rogalsky officiating. Spring interment in the church cemetery.

They shared their joys and sorrows for over seven years. This union was blessed with 3 sons. Her father, 2 brothers, and 1 sister preceded her in death. Funeral services were conducted April 9 at her late home in charge of Bro., Amos Brunk, with further services at the Wellesley Maple View A. M. Church in charge of Bro. C. R. Brunk in German, and Bro. Peter Nafziger in English. Text, II Cor. 4: 17. Interment in the adjoining cemetery.

SAMUEL L. ERB Samuel L. Erb, 57, R.R. 2, Wellesley, died Thursday, April 18^th, at the K-W Hospital, Kitchener, after a lengthy illness. He was born November 11, 1905, in Wellesley Township and farmed on the Third Line of Wellesley all his life. He was a member of the Maple View Amish Mennonite Church. He was predeceased by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Erb, the former Barbara Lichty, and two sisters. In June, 1929, he married Lydia Wagler who survives him. Other survivors are two sons, Vernon, Wellesley; Edward, R.R. Wellesley; two daughters, Vera, Kitchener; Erma, R.R. 2, Wellesley; two brothers, David, Wellesley; John, R.R. 2, Wellesley; two sisters, Mrs. Clayton (Nancy) Steinman, Wellesley; Mary, R.R. 2, Wellesley; and two grandchildren. The body rested at the Futher funeral home, Wellesley, until Sunday when a short service was held there at 2: 00 p.m. A memorial service was held at Maple View Amish Mennonite Church at 2: 30 p.m. with Bishop Christian Streicher officiating Burial was made in the church cemetery.

Erb.-Emma, beloved daughter of Bro. and Sister Jacob S. Erb, in the vicinity of Wellesley, Ont., was born Oct. 16, 1914; died Aug. 31, 1938; aged 23 y. 10 m. 15 d. Surviving are her parents, 2 sisters and 3 brothers (David, Samuel, Mrs. Clayton Steinman, all near Wellesley; Mary and John at home). One sister Katie died in early infancy. After a few weeks' illness, due to conditions of the heart, having been in unfavorable heath for past number of years, with suffering she peacefully left us. She was of a kind and gentle disposition, and faithfully trusted in her Saviour to the end. The funeral services were held Saturday afternoon, Sept. 3, from the home to the Maple View A. M. Church near Wellesley, of which she was a member, with burial in adjoining cemetery.

WELLESLEY, Sept. 1-Following a lengthy, illness, Emma Erb, 23, died yesterday at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Erb on the 3rd line of Wellesley. She was born in Wellesley township on Oct 16, 1914 and attended Maple church. View Amish-Mennonite.

Besides her, parents she is survived by three brothers, David and Sam L. of Wellesley and John at home, two sisters, Mrs. Clayton Steinman of Wellesley and Mary at home.

The funeral will be held at 1.30 o'clock Saturday afternoon with public services at her late residence thence to Maple View Amish- Menninite church on the 3rd line of Wellesley. Interment will be made in the adjoining cemetery Rev. Danjel Lebold will officiate.

Beloved husband of Mary Heyer; dear tether of Earl and Leonard, both of Kitchener, Bruce of Shakespeare; brother of Viola (Mrs. Cecil Wilhelm) of Route 2, Petersburg; also our. lived by four grandchildren; predeceased by one son.

Friends may call at the Futher Bros. Funeral Home, Wellesley afternoon on Friday. The family will be in attendance at the funeral home on Friday, from 2-4 and 7-9.
