On Monday morning the citizens of Zurich were surprised and grieved to learn that the angel of death had visited us and taken away the soul of one of our earliest settlers, in the person of Clarissa Liebler, widow of the late Michael Zeller. Her end came peacefully and painlessly just after midnight. The late Mrs. Zeller was born on March 22, 1835, and was married on July 8th, 1851, in the County of Waterloo. Over forty years ago, she moved to this township, where she has since resided, and since the death of her partner over a year ago made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Ed. Appel. She leaves five daughters, two sons, thirty-two grandchildren and four great grandchildren, also a number of brothers and sisters. The funeral took place on Wednesday afternoon, the remains being interred in the Lutheran cemetery. The funeral services were conducted by the Rev. J. Yager, of the Evangelical Church. The old friends who acted as pallbearers were F. Hess Sr., John Deichert Sr., J.F. Richbeil, Philip Hauch, Henry Lipphardt, and Rudolph Heideman.
